Indian Cultural Society celebrates 69th I-Day across UAE

Dubai: The Karnataka chapter of Indian Cultural Society celebrated 69th independence day of India with great zeal and patriotism on 15th august 2015 across United Arab Emirates.

ISCUAE 1

The celebration commenced with national anthem in al Muteena Park, Deira, Dubai at 8:00am. Mohammed Ashir Chokkabettu, general secretary of Indian Cultural Society, Karnataka chapter recalled the great sacrifices rendered by the freedom fighters to get freedom from British. He also urged to work hard for the development of our country and also to stay united against the anti national elements in India.

Sweets were distributed to visitors of Muteena Park. This year great preparation was made for the celebration. Indian Cultural Society distributed fruit kit with juice to “beat the heat” on this special day.

Irfan Kadilyali executive member of Indian cultural society inaugurated the kit distribution ceremony. More than 300 kits were distributed to the labourers working at outdoor, gardens and construction sites in Dubai.

Distribution team was headed by Mohammed Ali Muloor – president of Indian Cultural Society, Deira and assisted by Farook Bajpe – president of Indian Cultural Society, Bur Dubai. Shamsuddin Udupi, Riyaz Jokatte, Shamsuddin Karnad, Faraz Brahmavar, Zakir Honnala, Farook Thirthahalli were present for distribution. Mohammed Ali thanked all volunteer and well-wishers for their support for making the event success.

Abu Dhabi

A similar programme was conducted in Abu Dhabi. Team headed by Abdul Majeed Aladka, president Indian Cultural Society, Abu Dhabi visited labour site in Musaffah industrial area and distributed fruit and juice kit.

In his presidential speech, he briefed about the values of independence day celebeartion and also assured them to assist in emergencies. Chief guest irfan, owner of supreme industries, Rashid Nala, Rashid Bijai, Mubarak, Thaha, Pervez and Shafi Thingaladi were present on this occasion.

Sharjah

Indian Cultural Society, Sharjah, celebrated Independence Day in a construction site located in Ajman. Ilyas Melkar, president of Indian Cultural Society, Sharjah recalled the past Independence Day celebrations back in our motherland, India.

Labours were very happy for celebrating this great occasion which reminded them the feeling being in India. Sweets were distributed to labourers in the site. Ismail Muloor, Lathief Muloor, Irshad Kalladka, Afsar Mysore, Ashwaqullah Mysore and Ashir Chokkabettu, general secretary indian cultural society, UAE were present and spent good time with the labours.

In addition to Independence Day celebration a friendly volleyball match was arranged between Indian cultural society Sharjah and Dubai teams. Dubai team led by Zaheer Udupi was defeated by Sharjha team led by Ashfaq Mysuru.

Riyadh: Cricket Lovers are all geared up for the newly launched franchise based tournament - Kingdom Premier League (KPL) 2020 under the banner of Mangaluru Cricket Association (MCA) Riyadh.

SAQCO –SAAD AL QAHTANI CONTRACTING is the Mega Sponsor for the event and PARAMOUNT is the CO Sponsor.

The 6-team tournament is being played at MCA Grounds on Exit 18 in Riyadh beginning from 14 Feb and shall end on 20 March.

The Opening ceremony took place on AL-Mas Restaurant in Riyadh. The trophy launching as well as Jersey launching took place at the same event. Guests from various companies including SAQCO were present.

All teams will play at least one league Match against every other team. Top 4 teams in the table will qualify to play for the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator. The Winner of Qualifier 1 will be heading towards the final and the 2nd finalist will be the winner Qualifier 2 (Played between loser of Qualifier 1 and Winner of Eliminator). The Finals will be played on 20th March.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.
