Irrfan Khan Sets His Own Rules

April 20, 2014

Irrfan_KhanMumbai, Apr 20: Irrfan Khan is setting his own rules and is seeing to it that they are followed as well. Irrfan who is known to be very strict with his script selection is now imposing new guidelines to his makers.

For his upcoming film, Haider where he has a cameo, Irrfan Khan has made it very clear to Vishal Bhardwaj to not use his name or face on the poster and publicity material of the film.

As for Haider, according to a source close to Vishal Bhardwaj, this was discussed even before the film went on floors. “Irrfan and Vishal had this understanding regarding the poster of the film. Both agreed to the point that it misleads the audience if someone playing a cameo is featured upfront on the posters.”

If this was not enough, Irrfan has also had a word with Himesh Reshammiya and shared his concerns over the posters of The Xpose. With just a cameo, he felt his name should not feature in the posters or any publicity material.

“It’s a cameo, just one day’s shoot, and I did it for Himesh Reshammiya, who is the actor and producer of The X’pose and he has made the film with a lot of passion. So I was a little surprised to find that they had put me in the first poster that was unveiled.” stated Irrfan Khan.

What’s more surprising is the fact that the film’s director Ananth Narayan Mahadevan is not aware of any written agreement between Irrfan and the producer about the use of his image in the film’s publicity.

” Irrfan Khan features in just four scenes but he’s the narrator and strings the film together and even features in a song in the end credits. It’s not a passing guest appearance. It may not be a full fledged role but his character, Alec D’Costa, is vital to the plot. Yes, Irrfan is there in the posters and the film’s trailer too but it should not be misconstrued that he is the leading man.” stated Ananth Mahadevan.

Well for all the makes out there, read this carefully before you sigh on Irrfan Khan for your future projects!

Mumbai, Mar 7: A 'farm-to-fork' themed restaurant 'He-Man' situated on National Highway in Haryana's Karnal -- franchised by veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra -- has been sealed for building law violations, officials said on Saturday.

The Karnal Municipal Corporation sealed the franchise outlet on Friday for not furnishing the change of land use (CLU) certificate and illegal constructions, an official said.

The restaurant is located on National Highway 44 on the outskirts of Karnal, some 150 km from here.

The franchise was given to Delhi-based businessman Pramod Kumar.

"After the success of my restaurant Garam Dharam Dhaba, I am now announcing a farm-to- fork themed restaurant 'He-Man'," Dharmendra had announced on Instagram after its launch on Valentine's Day.

Karnal Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav said the action was initiated as the restaurant owner did not respond to MC notice on the issue.

Mumbai, Jan 12: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday came out in support of actor Deepika Padukone, who is facing flak from the BJP and some other quarters over her visit to the JNU campus in Delhi to express solidarity with students who were recently attacked by armed assailants.

Raut, who is a Rajya Sabha member and the executive editor of Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana', said the country cannot be run in a "Talibani" style.

After Padukone's visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Tuesday, many appreciated her "silent solidarity", but some others criticised her for "supporting Leftists", saying it was a promotional stunt for her latest film "Chhapaak".

Some also demanded a boycott of her film, based on the life of an acid attack survivor, played by Padukone.

A section of BJP leaders also criticised the 34-year- old actor over her JNU visit.

Talking to PTI, Raut said, "The demand for boycott of the actress and her film is wrong. The country cannot be run in a 'Talibani' style."

"Chhapaak", directed by Meghna Gulzar, hit the theatres on Friday.

Declaring a movie tax-free means the state has waived the entertainment levy imposed on it, thereby bringing down the ticket rates and encouraging more people to watch it.
