ISF Karnataka lifts Jeddah’s Karnataka Noble Trophy-2014

Jeddah: The season 2014 title of Karnataka Noble Trophy (KNT) Cricket Tournament has been prevailed by ISF Karnataka with 35 runs against Dazzle Super King in the Finals. Justifying its decision to bat first after winning the toss ISF Karnataka had scored 127 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the limited 10 over of its innings. Chasing the huge victory target of 128 runs Dazzle Super King lost its early wickets and failure of top order batting line caused it to score only 92 for 9 in 10 over span.

Prior to this in the first semi finals ISF Karnataka had thrashed Challengers (lothers) by 25 runs and faced head on in finals with Dazzle Super King which had won the second semi finals against Rising Star by 31 runs. The magnificent batting of ISF Karnataka’s top order batsman Amir Lefty and Aftab had set the record on 5th wicket partnership with 84 runs was the strong base for the ISF Karnataka in the finals.

Aftab from ISF has been declared as Man of the Finals for his all round performance of 27* runs and 18/3. Aftab was also awarded as the Best bowler of the tournament who snatched 10 wickets in the tournament. Amer Lefty from ISF who scored 230 runs in the tournament with 28 sixes has been awarded as Man of the Series and Highest Sixes award also was reserved to Amer Lefty.

Man of the First Semifinals between Challengers (lothers) and ISF was Nadeem from ISF Karnataka for his 38* runs. Abdul Waheed from Dazzel Super King was the Man of the Second Semifinals for his all round performance of 15 Runs & 14/2. In total 157 sixes were counted in the entire tournament which kept the spectators tuned up with all the matches.

The grand presentation ceremony was organized in the ground after the finals which were witnessed by multiple hundreds of cricket fans, well wishers of KNT, playing teams, guests and sponsors.

The grand KNT Cup which was specially brought from India by the organizers was awarded by the chief Guest of the Event Mr. Hisham Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sayed Executive Board member of Chamber of Commerce, and Managing Director of Al-Sayed group of Industries, Guest of Honor Mr. Al-Rawhana Managing Partner of Al-Sayed construction and Investment   group and Mr. Hossam Abdul Aziz Business development Director of Guts Investments.

The presentation ceremony was formally started with the Qirath by Shaikh Saoud which was followed by welcome address from S M Shafy, President of Jamiyyatul Falah Jeddah. Nasir Khurshid, Secretary of Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah has introduced the guests and Roshan Rodrigues, President of KNRI Forum Jeddah welcomed the guest by presenting bouquets. Team leader Mohammed Mansoor had briefed the activities of Jamiyyatul Falah and Karnataka NRI Forum to the guests. Krish Jangal from Sunbulla Group was also share the dais and awarded Man of the Semifinals. Vasu Manche Gawda and S M Jafer have shared the distribution of Certificates to Umpairs and Scorers where as Roshan Rodrigues and Nasir Khurshid shared the distribution of Certificates to Extraordinary members for their excellent Ground Management and over all services.

The great cricket tournament which was organized by Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah & Jamiyyatul Falah Jeddah was conducted 15 knock out matches with in 16 teams from Dec 4th to Dec 12. The main objective of organizing this cricket tournament is to support charity and spread awareness among the citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia with “Cricket for the Noble Cause” as its slogan which was widely appreciated by citizens and several verticals have joined their hands to support the noble cause.

In a humanitarian gesture to help fellow citizens in distress, the first in the series of chartered 
flights arranged by Thumbay Group, UAE and the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) Trust, 
Mangalore to repatriate stranded Kannadigas in the UAE took off from Ras Al Khaimah 
International Airport in the wee hours of 21st July 2020. The flight was fully occupied, with 186 passengers, all of them desperate to fly back to India for various reasons.

The initiative was conceived and implemented under the leadership of Dr. Thumbay Moideen - Founder President of Thumbay Group & Founder Patron of BCF and Dr. B K Yusuf, the 
President of BCF. The flight was organized on a purely charitable basis, with all necessary 
steps and precautions in place to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. Thumbay Group assigned its fleet of buses to transport the passengers free of charge from their residences in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman to the airport. The organizers also provided free meals and refreshments to the passengers, in addition to PPE kits and face-shields distributed free of 
charges.

The passengers on the first flight included many elderly individuals, people with serious 
illnesses like heart-related health issues and diabetes, pregnant ladies and little children as well as people who had lost their jobs and those with expired visas. Dr. B K Yusuf – BCF President, Dr. Kaup Mohammed - BCF General Secretary, other office bearers of BCF, as well as Thumbay Group’s representatives Mr. Farhad C – Director of the Hospitality Division of 
Thumbay Group and Engr. Farwaz P. C. – COO of the Construction Division were present at 
the airport to see off the first group of passengers.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Thumbay Moideen said, “This joint initiative of Thumbay 
Group and BCF is to support our fellow Kannadigas desperate to fly back home. We are happy that we have been able to reach out to many of them, to help them fly home to their families. We thank the Governments of the UAE and India, and the Indian Consulate, Dubai, for their support in making this happen. In the coming days, many more stranded Kannadigas would be repatriated under this joint initiative.”
Dr. B K Yusuf thanked Dr. Thumbay Moideen and the office-bearers and members of BCF for 
their efforts to make the initiative a success.

“We are proud that this initiative has brought relief to many Kannadigas and their families today. BCF is grateful to Thumbay Group for its support and partnership for all our humanitarian programs for the support of the needy.”

Dr. Kaup Mohammed said that it was a matter of pride that the much-awaited Thumbay-BCF 
repatriation flight had been carried out successfully. “Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers throughout the journey,” he said. He also thanked all the social organizations including Bhatkal Jamath, BCCI, BWF, KCF, DKSC, Kodagu Kannadigas, 
Kannadiga Help Line, Dubai Konkans and KSS, for their support. He specially thanked Mr. 
Syed Hassan Razeen, the owner of ARISTOCRAT Travels for his support in the ticketing, 
boarding and related processes. On behalf of Milano Optics Group and Maxcare, free gift 
hampers were distributed to selected passengers.

The passengers were received at Mangalore airport under the leadership of Mr. Mumtaz Ali - patron of BCF and other distinguished personalities of Mangalore including Mr. Moidin Bava - former MLA, Mr U. T. Ifthikhar, Mr. S. M. R Rashid - President of BCCI central committee and many others. The passengers were transferred to the hotels where they had registered for the mandatory quarantine.

The second flight under this joint initiative is scheduled to take-off from Ras Al Khaimah airport to Mangalore on 24th July 2020. A few more similar repatriation flights are to soon follow, in the coming weeks.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

Kuwait City, Aug 9: Indian social forum organised Blood Donation Camp in association with central blood bank kuwait on Friday, 7th August 2020.

The forum organised camp to support the high demand of blood in the context of COVID-19.

All arrangements to maintain COVID-19 protocol were made in the camp including segregation of donors as branch wise batches along with strict safety measures of participants.

Forum also had donated blood to many patients during the lockdown period. 

Hundreds of people donated blood in the camp. The camp organised in Blood Bank, Jabriya was successfully managed by Dr. Asma Rafat and leaders of Indian social forum Vice President Aslam, Secretory Sayyid Bukhari Thangal, Moideen Koya, Khaleel, Aseem, Mohammed Sha, Shihab, Naushad,
Indian Social Forum expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, staff and management of blood bank, forum’s members and donors.
