Bengaluru, Oct 19: The wedding invitation of Former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy's daughter Bramhani has gone viral.

The invitation, for the November wedding comes in a blue box, which has an elaborate setup including an LCD screen playing a video.

The video has the whole family singing along to a song written specially for the wedding, while text announces "Bramhani Weds Rajeev Reddy".

"Atithi Devobhava (guest is like God)," Mr Reddy sings - or lip syncs - along with his wife and son.

In a setting that puts Bollywood to shame, the bride and groom are introduced and shown eyeing each other coyly. Everyone sings. The bride swirls her lehenga and runs in slow-mo. The groom is introduced with white stallions in the backdrop.

The one-minute video ends with a close-up of the family as the date and venue are announced.

The wedding is expected to be star-studded event with many bollywood stars expected to be in attendance.

Mr Reddy, 49, once among the most powerful men in Karnataka, spent three years in jail in connection with illegal mining. He was released last year on bail.

He and his older brother G Karunakara Reddy were ministers in the BJP government headed by BS Yeddyurappa till July 2011. Months later, Mr Reddy was arrested by the CBI.

His daughter's wedding is widely expected to be a star-studded event and a grand show of opulence, quite like the engagement ceremony last month.

If the wedding invite is any indication, the powerful politician is spending a fortune on the wedding.

Reddy don't know the value of money, if he had earned money with hard work then he will not spend like this.

Reddy is spending the money of our own people which he gained by cheating. He made use of his power while he was Minister in BJP Govt, the chore party. I am sure that there were many share holders in the cheated money. BJP is very favorable and soft to its members. Most of the BJP MLAs / MPs are crorepatis whereas common Indian is struggling for one time food.

Bengaluru, Jul 1: The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert and forecasted heavy rains for three coastal districts and 12 more in the south interior Karnataka region, an official said on Tuesday afternoon.

"Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at isolated places over south interior Karnataka from Tuesday to Wednesday," said a Met official.

For Bengaluru city, the Met department has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light rain for the next three days.

Coastal Karnataka -- Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts have been issued a yellow alert for the next two days with thundershowers and gusty winds.

Winds blowing at speed of 40-50 km per hour are expected on the coast and the Met department warned fishermen against venturing into the sea.

Meanwhile, heavy showers on Sunday night in Vijayapura district gave rise to flash floods in the Doni river and Sogali stream.

An overflowing Doni river submerged the Talikote - Hadaginal bridge, a remnant from the colonial era, and also submerged some agricultural lands. Only recently, these agricultural lands were sown with toor dal plants.

Similarly, many SSLC students also struggled to cross the bridge to reach their examination centres on Monday.

Many houses were also flooded due to the rainfall at Nalatwad and Talikote taluk. Muddebihal, Basavana Bagewadi and Sindagi taluks also witnessed heavy rainfall.

A 40-year-old farmer from Dharwad district was washed away in the Tuppari Halla stream, which is prone to flood during the monsoon season.

Likewise, a truck carrying cotton also got washed away in a stream in Yadgir district.

"There is an offshore trough and a circulation, because of which rain will continue in the coastal area. Only Malnad has not got sufficient rain this year. Probably after two days, Malnad may get some rains," Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) Director Srinivas Reddy said. Otherwise, entire state got normal rainfall, said Reddy, though it is not active over Malnad.

Udupi, Jun 4: Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakhar on Wednesday said that he will take up an issue before a high-powered committee on COVID-19 to find out the possibility of imposing lockdown on a particular house of the person infected with the virus instead of sealing down of entire areas.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday after reviewing the district's prevailing COVID situation, the minister said the concept and modalities of declaring any area as containment zone has undergone changes in the last two months.

"Hitherto, we were declaring the entire area as the containment zone after detection of coronavirus positive cases. Subsequently, the area of the containment zone was decreased from the whole area to a particular street," the Minister said.

"Now, BJP MLA Raghupati Bhat has given a suggestion to seal down a particular house of the positive patient which would be taken up before the high-powered panel. The district administration concerned could supply all essential items to the particular family," he said.

He further said that the Union government has been providing all facilities to all the states to deal with the situation."
