Jeddah: IFF Seerat-un-Nabi campaign concludes

Jeddah: The valedictory of the Seerat-un-Nabi campaign organized by the Karnataka chapter of the India Fraternity Forum across Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia was held on February 12 at community center near Mahatta Raheli in Jeddah.

A variety of cultural competitions for men, women and children were held separately as part of the valedictory ceremony. Attractive prizes were given to the winners. Qirat, Islamic song and quiz competitions were also held. A Daff programme was conducted by the Students Fraternity Forum, the students’ wing of IFF. Kolaata, a folk dance by the IFF Kerala division entertained the gathering.

Abdul Majeed Vittla, IFF western region president, Karnataka, presided over the stage function. Abdul Hannan, General Secretary SDPI, Karnataka and Haneef Khan Kodaje, State vice president, SDPI Karnataka, addressed the gathering and spoke about the life and message of Prophet Muhammad. Abdul Majeed Vittla, IFF western region president, Karnataka, shed light on the social activities of IFF and urged the gathering to join their hands with IFF.

Saleem Guruvankere made a presentation about the developmental activities conducted by Rihab India Foundation. Mohammad Arif welcomed the gathering. Haris Goodinabali proposed the vote of thanks and Basha Todar concluded the function. Haneef Aris Jeddah, Tufail Jeddah, Ubaidullah Makkah, Abdul Hannan and many other dignitaries were present on the stage.

As part of the campaign programmes were conducted in places such as Madina, Makka, Taif, Abha, and Tabuk, prior to the valedictory programme in Jeddah. The aim of the campaign held in the month of Rabi-ul-Avval was to educate the Indian expatriates in the region about life and the message of Prophet Muhammad.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.
