Jubail: Amaco lifts JF expertise Trophy 2014

Jubail, Mar 16: Jamiyyatul Falah Jubail Unit organised  ‘JF expertise Trophy 2014’ by the charitable organization ‘Jam’iyyatul Falah’ was concluded with a fabulous closing ceremony and a spectacular grand finale on March 7th, 2014 at Al Falah Flood Light Cricket Ground in Jubail .The 8 Over Knockout Cricket Tourney for noble cause was commenced on 27th of Feb  2014. The opening match between Easten Blue Vs Muzain was inaugurated by Farook Portfolio along with Anwar Goodanaballi Ex-presidents of JF Jubail.

The annual event of Sports was well organized by the JF Jubail Unit  and all the 16 Cricket Teams participated in the tournament from Eastern Province had displayed a true sportsman spirit during the tournament and played their matches with full of interest and excitement.

In the finals, Amaco won the ‘JF expertise Trophy 2014’ for the 1st time by defeating expertise by 5 wickets. Asif the captain of Amaco and also our well-wisher was very happy for winning the 1st time and praised his boys for exhibiting wonderful cricket throughout the tournament.

Amaco won the toss and elected to field first and expertise managed the total of 68/8 in allotted 8 over. In reply, Amaco reached the target of 69 with the loss of 4 wickets. The brilliant bowling and fielding performance was displayed by Amaco players. Amaco Captain Asif with his partner Nayaz played stunning partnership innings to win the final . Ayub judged man of the match in final for his brilliant bowling performance.

Prior to this Grand final, 1st Semi Finals was played between NGC vs Expertise batted first NGC made 82/6 and in reply expertise  chased the target 83/3  in 7.3 over. Expertise  won by 7 wickets. Shoaib from Expertise won the man of the match award

2nd Semi Finals was played between Amaco vs  United Tech, batted first United tech scored 57/9.  In reply Amaco were 59/7  in 7.4 overs . Amaco won by 3 wickets. Rameez  from Amaco won the man of the match award.

Immediately after the Finals, the post-match presentation and closing ceremony was hosted by JF Jubail unit Organizing Secretary Affan Sheikh from Hyderabad .The program commenced with Qirath by Muhammed Zayd Nasir Sheikh. Sheikh Salim, President of Jamiyyatul Falah Jubail unit addressed the audience with his welcome speech and thanked the thrilled-packed audience for their kind presence. President appreciated all the 16 cricket teams for their participation and welcomed all the sponsors and spectators who have supported for this noble cause has been greatest contribution to our success.

NRCC and President  Dammam Unit, Asif (CEO of Amaco ), Ismail (MD of Realtech ), Mr.Shahul Hameed ( Ex NRCC Ameer)Mr.Mahmood Saad ( Ex president Dammam Unit), Mr.Farooq Portfolio ( Ex president Jubail Unit),Salim Sheikh (President Jubail Unit) were invited in the dias.

Mr.Sheikhabba ( MD of Expertise Contracting , Mr.Imtiaz Khan ( MD of IK holding company ,Mr.Iqbal Yousef  (JF founder member ) were felicitated with Memento.

Subsequently, the prize distribution ceremony was hosted by JF Jubail Unit Organising Secretary Mr.Afan Sheikh and announced the winners of Man of the Match awardees who played in Quarters, Semis and Finals Matches.

Man of the Tournament won by Anis from NGC

-              Best Batsman won by shamsher from expertise

-              Best Bowler won by zuvair from expertise

-              Trophies were presented to Match Officials and Umpires.

Asif the captain of Amaco collected the Winner’s Trophy from Sheikhabba, MD of expertise contracting and each winning players had collected their individual trophies. The captain of expertise collected the Runners-up Trophy from Mr.Imtiaz Khan (MD of IK holding) and the players were distributed with their individual trophies.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Siddiq Baikampady, Gen.Sec. of JF Jubail Unit.

Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
