Kannadiga kids shine in UAE

Dubai, Jun 10: The Kannadigas beamed with pride when Prapti Jayananad Pakkala, Shashwik Divakar Shetty and Shraddha Deviprasad Shetty won the prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, gave away the awards to the winners at a scintillating ceremony recently at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The Award honours individuals who value their commitment and have a proven record of outstanding success in their respective educational field. The award for distinguished academic performance has been designed to recognize academic achievements, talents, skills and leadership abilities across variety of disciplines.

Shashwik Divakar Shetty is the son of Divakar Shetty. A budding multi- talented student, currently studying in Grade9 at The Indian High School Dubai, Shetty achieved remarkable milestone in public speaking, English literature, social work and in the field of cricket.

He is an avid reader winning many accolades in spell bee and quizzing. He was spotted reading when he was as young as four years. He is a Green Crusader, an artist and was head boy for middle school. This young lad has initiated the art of tissue drawing .He left no stone unturned to soar high in cricket. He was sponsored and sent to UK by Young Talents Cricket Association and there he won the “most promising player” award in 2012.

Prapti Jayanand Pakkala, daughter of Jayalaxmi Pakkala and Jayanand Pakkala   currently a Grade 5 student at The Indian High school, Dubai is a promising student who has excelled in academic performance scoring 95% above in all her subjects along with multi-talented curricular and extra-curricular activities . The young girl is environment conscious and she is member of Green Hope and student council. Prapti is a great dancer and singer particularly excelling in classical dance. Prapti is a member of Smile Creations Dance Troupe and Rajarajeshwari Bhajana Mandali.

Shraddha Shetty daughter of Deviprasad   Shetty and Neetha Shetty is currently studying in Grade 12 at Our Own English High School, Sharjah. Shraddha an all -rounder besides scoring 95% above in her academics for the past many years she is a multi-talented girl. Her talents and skills are public speaking throw ball, discus throw and writing articles for newspaper. As an Environmentalist Shraddha has led several campaigns which led the school winning the Green Flag award. Shraddha is the Head girl of her school, a brown belt Dan 2 in Karate and member of UAE Federation of Karate and Taekwondo. In 2012 she was also awarded the Margadarshan Award by Knowledge Resource Development and welfare group, IIT-Delhi.

The three rising Kannadiga stars were felicitated by Sri Dr Vidyavachaspati Vishwa Santhosh Bharathi at the 40th World Bunts get- together held in Abu Dhabi in the presence of Sarvotham Shetty, President of UAE Bunts association and Shankar Shetty, President, Bunts Sangha, Mumbai.

Riyadh: On the occasion of 71st Republic Day of India, Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) conducted BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN on the 17th Jan 2020 at KING SAUD Universities King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh. 

This is one of KWARs Prestigious Humanitarian EVENT every year, as we are indebted to serve the society for a Great Cause.

The campaign began at 08:30 am with a theme of Republic Day Celebrations and went on till 3:30 pm. Irrespective of Friday being a weekend and holiday people came in good numbers to donate Blood. The Hospital Staff, The Doctors and the Blood Bank Technicians and others at King Khalid University Hospital were more than happy to serve all those who have participated in this campaign.

KWAR Thanks all the Hospital Staff especially Mr. Salman Baqsh for his introduction of KWAR to Blood Bank and all the arrangements for this campaign, without his support this could not been done. Dr. Zafar Mahmoud for his wonderful support during the campaign and Mr. Abdullah Al Saman for his outstanding Hospitality throughout the campaign. KWAR also thanks all the donors who came all the way voluntarily for this Great Humanitarian Cause. As a token of gesture KWAR awarded Certificate of Appreciation to all the participants.

And KWAR would like to thank specially Mr. Nasir, Representative of Blood Helpline Karnataka, who encouraged many donors and made them to actively participate and donate blood for this noble cause.

KWAR’s core activities was on display on the screen, with most of the Committee members were present at the venue to serve the donors. KWAR thanks all the members, the Executive committee and all those who took their valuable time to organize this event successfully and thank all our well-wishers who supported us for the BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN. We in KWAR wish every Donor and the participants a healthy life ahead, and we need everyone's active participation in all our Future events.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.
