Kannur Airport authorities seek bus services from Mysuru region

Mysuru, June 2: In order to provide facilities to air passengers from Mysuru and Kodagu region in Karnataka, Kannur International Airport authorities have written to the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) seeking bus connectivity services to the Airport from Mysuru and Kodagu regions.

Confirming the communication between the recently-opened Kannur International Airport authorities, the KSRTC sources in Mysuru said the corporation had replied with a positive response provided the airport authorities secure the requisite permit from the Kerala government for the operation of the bus services.

The authorities had sought bus services from Mysuru, Virajpet and Madikeri to the Kannur airport.

Bantwal, Jan 15: Two people died in a head-on collision between two two-wheelers at Mani-Mysuru Highway in Bantwal last night, police said on Wednesday.

Police said that Parikshit (19) and Padmanabha Gowda (28) were heading towards Mane while Mohammed Ajmal (19) on his activa was on his way towards Kodaje when they collided head-on.

All the victims were immediately rushed to hospital for treatment where two of them breathed its last after not responding to the treatment.

Parikshit and Ajmal lost their lives while Gowda suffered critical injuries, the police said.

In another road accident reported from Kodangayi near Radukatte in Vittla, seven people including women and children sustained injuries when a Maruti Omni and another vehicle collided here on Tuesday evening.

Mangaluru Jun 18: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, June 18, reported 23 fresh covid-19 cases, taking the total number of the cases detected in the district to 401.  

Among the 23 corona-positive patients, there are 21 males and two females. 

21 are Saudi returnees, while the other two have contracted infection from P-6618.

No cases were reported in Udupi district on Thursday.

The total number of cases in Udupi is 1,039, with only 92 cases being currently active. As many as 946 patients including 38 on Thursday who recovered have been discharged from hospital.

Mangaluru, Jan 23: Members of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Thursday held a protest against the Karnataka government, accusing it of shielding Aditya Rao, the main accused of planting an improvised explosive device (IED) at the Mangaluru airport on January 20.

Meanwhile, the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court has sent the accused Aditya Rao to 10 days police custody.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Bengaluru Police said that the procedure is being followed to hand-over to the Mangaluru Police a suspect who surrendered before it two days after planting an improvised explosive device (IED) at the Mangaluru International Airport.

The IED was later defused in an open field by the personnel of the bomb disposal squad.
