KBC gets its first Rs 7 crore winner in two brothers

Mumbai, Sep 21: The Narula brothers, Achin and Sarthak, became the first ever contestants to win the highest prize of Rs 7 crore in reality game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', hosted by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

KBC 7 croreThe Narula brothers, who hail from Delhi, emerged victorious after answering all the 14 questions correctly with the help of four lifelines.

Achin is a marketing manager and Sarthak is a student. Achin has been trying to be a part of the iconic show for the last 10 years but always fell short of being selected for the fastest finger first contest.

Bachchan, 71, hinted about the big win on his official blog and Twitter handle while posting his pictures from the show.

He wrote, "It is a topsy turvy world tonight and KBC is the one that needs to be blamed!! What incredible moments, what brilliance and what an incredible play..! That is all I am permitted to say."

"The beauty and the excitement of KBC at its very maximum! Just an incredible moment," Bachchan tweeted, followed by a photograph from the sets of the show featuring the winners.

"Bazuumbaaa," the actor posted along with the snap adorned with the Rupee symbol. Bachchan, who has been hosting the show for 14 years, was reportedly speechless as the brothers made it to the top prize.

Siddhartha Basu, who is the producer of the show, said the jackpot win was a moment to cherish. "We have been waiting for a moment like this since the inception of this show. It is a pleasure to see bright brains like Achin and Sarthak battle it out for the Maha Jackpot."

Gaurav Seth, Senior Vice President Marketing, Sony Entertainment Television called the win a "momentous occasion" while congratulating the brothers on their win.

Mumbai, Jul 26: Just days after actor Kangana Ranaut made some claims on Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide case and asked why the Mumbai police is not summoning some people of the Hindi film industry, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Sunday said that film director Mahesh Bhatt and Karan Johar's manager will be called for the questioning.

"Tomorrow Mahesh Bhatt will be called for questioning and we will later call Karan Johar's manager too. If required Karan Johar can also be called for the questioning in Sushant Singh Rajput case," he said while speaking to news agency.

A day Rajput's suicide, Kangana had released a two-minute video speaking highly of the deceased actor and accusing certain sections of the film industry for not acknowledging the star's talent.

Kangana had also claimed that some of the last social media posts by the actor made it evident that he was struggling to survive in the industry.

According to the police, statements of 39 people, including film critic Rajeev Masand, director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and filmmaker Aditya Chopra have been recorded in the investigation so far.

Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14.

Mumbai, Aug 9:The questioning of Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), in connection with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, continued till around 6:30 am on Sunday, according to sources in the ED.

It is noteworthy that Showik Chakraborty had reached the ED office at around 12 pm on Saturday afternoon, following which the questioning by the investigative agency's officials went on for about 18 hours.

Tomorrow on August 10, Rhea, alongwith her father, Indrajit Chakraborty, are to be questioned by the ED officials.

Showik is named in the First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Rhea was earlier questioned by the ED at its office in Mumbai in connection with the case. The agency also questioned Showik and Shruti Modi, former business manager of Rajput.

According to sources in the investigation agency, the officials have got hold of electronic evidence in connection with the case and they are also searching for phone records of conversations between Rhea and her father and brother.

The ED had already questioned Rhea once on Saturday, following which she was called back on Monday.

Meanwhile, CBI has collected documents related to the actor's death from Bihar Police. The ED has also asked the late actor's friend, Siddharth Pithani, to appear before the agency on August 8.

The agency had on July 31 registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in the case after FIR was filed by KK Singh, the late actor's father, against Rhea in Bihar on July 28.
The ED earlier interrogated Samuel Miranda, an associate of Rhea over the latter's properties, sources said.

The investigating agency has registered a case against six accused including Rhea in connection with Rajput's death.

Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14.

Ernakulam, Feb 29: A court here on Friday issued a bailable arrest warrant against Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban for failing to appear before it for witness examination in an assault case filed by an actress.

Ernakulam Additional Sessions Judge Honey M Varghese issued the arrest warrant.

As per the court's direction, Boban can take bail from police station and appear before court on March 4.
