KCA to hold ‘Mood Mangalorean’ on Feb 25

Mangaluru: The Kanara Catholic Association (KCA), a 67-year-old organisation set up in 1955 is all set for its ‘Mood Mangalorean’ event on February 25 at the newly inaugurated Konkani Samudai Bhavan at Kalyan Nagar at 6:30pm .

mood 2Errol Fernandes, KCA president said Leslie Fernandes, former chairman of Dockendale Shipping. Co will be the chief guest and Ronald Colaco, catholic social worker will be the guest of honour.

For the past 67 years, the KCA has been organising programmes for the community members, said Errol Fernandes.

Marjorie Texeira, Vice President of KCA has organised cultural programmes.

“Mood Mangalorean is an event that showcases cultural heritage and history of the Kanara Catholic Community,” Dr Joseph Rasquinha, managing committee member.

Ferns Estates and Developers are sponsoring the event while Austin and Hilma Roach are sponsoring the event.

The KCA, is a venerable organisation for the Mangalorean Catholic Community. It celebrated its 50th anniversary in September 2004 and Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore, the Rt Rev Ivan Pinto was the chief guest. The celebrations concluded on September 11 in 2005 with Rt Rev Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore gracing the occasion.

Madikeri, Jul 24: Water from river Cauvery, which is deemed as holy, and mud from Kodagu, the birth district of river Cauvery was collected and will be sent to Ayodhya for use during groundbreaking (Bhoomi Pooja) ceremony for the construction of Ram Mandir on August 5.

Workers of Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Hindu Jagarana Vedike collected the soil and water from River Cauvery at Talacauvery Kshetra, the birthplace of river Cauvery.

Special pooja was offered at Talacauvery, praying for the timely completion of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Mangaluru, July 14: Melkar  Women's PU college has achieved excellent pass percentage in II PUC examinations, the results of which were announced today.

As many as 140 students of the college had appeared for second PU board exam 2020 this year. The college secured 95% results in the current academic year.

Among them 24 students passed with distinction and 94 with with first class marks.

Fathima Nisha (558 in Arts),

Zaithunnisa (561 in commerce) and Zainaba ifrath (545 in science) are the toppers of respective sections in the college.

Mandya, Apr 3: Following the lock down in the country, people habit ventured into Liquor bottles worth several lakhs of rupees have been stolen at two places in the district.

Miscreants targeted a wine store at Chikka Mandya on the outskirts of the town in the early hours and also made away with the stock from a wine store near Hadly Circle in Malavalli town late night on Thursday. The incidents came to light on Friday.

A window was broken open at Chikka Mandya store and a wall was drilled at Malavalli store to take away the cartons, the police said.
