KCF fields 300 Haj volunteers in Mina, Makkah

Mina: For the second consecutive year, the Karnataka Cultural Foundation (KCF), a socio-cultural forum of the expatriates from the south Indian state living in Saudi Arabia, has come forward to serve the Haj pilgrims by forming a dedicated team of volunteers.

KCF in Saudi Arabia is engaged in addressing socio-economic concerns of expatriate Kannadigas. It also provides a venue for cultural patronage and helps maintain human dignity while respecting deeply the cultural and religious heritage of Saudi Arabia as well as strictly abiding the laws of this holy land.

KCF had launched Haj volunteer service last year. The volunteers had camped three days at the hospital in Mina to dedicate themselves to serve wounded people. The New Mina Hospital had felicitated the KCF Haj volunteer group with an appreciation letter.

Last year, KCF had fielded 100 volunteers to serve the guest of Allah at Mina. This year the number of haj volunteers has increased to around 300. Their service will be available especially for Kannadigas in Mina and Makkah from Dhul Hijjah 9 to 12.

Taking the help of the experts, KCF had drawn a meticulous plan to carry out this Haj volunteer service. The volunteers were given strenuous training before being deputed to service. Hundreds of expatriates from state of Karnataka had come forward to register for volunteer service.

Last year KCF group had started its volunteer work even before the prescribed volunteering days at Mina. KCF volunteers had flocked together to Madina and Makkha to help the pilgrims in all possible way when Hajjajs from India started reaching Madina and Makkah With sole motto of earning the ‘Dua’ of Allah’s guest and thereby the pleasure of Allah, the volunteers were at the door step of Hajis to lift their luggage, to hold their hand, to help them find their ways towards accommodation and give company to elderly and weak pilgrims.

Mr. Saleem Kanyadi, the chief organizer and Mr. Faizal Krishnapura, the convener of the entire set up are very enthused have promised to expand the service to accommodate the more number of volunteer aspirants in coming years.

Great to see the spirit of south Indian NRI Muslim orgenisations, to serve the guest of Allah, there should be mutual understanding and Coordination between different volunteer groups. So that the tasks will be easy for them.

AIE plane crash: Two NRIs in UAE thank God for missing flight at last moment

Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.

Ramesh Chennitthala inaugurates campaign for 20th ‘Learn the Qur'an’ conference

Riyadh, Feb 24: Indian Islahi Center, Riyadh (IICR) kicked off the propagation campaign of "Learn the Quran" national conference, which is slated to be held on March 27, 2020 at Nofa Istiraha, Exit 18, Riyadh, Kingdom Saudi Arabia. It's IICR's 20th successful program.

Kerala Legislative Assembly's opposition leader & Congress leader, Ramesh Chennitthala inaugurated the campaign that was held at Voco Hotel in Riyadh, capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ramesh was on two days visit in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The objective of the campaign is to instil the keenness & to keep creating the continuous awareness amongst the community on Quran. It also enables to recite the Quran with Tajweed (science of reading the Quran) & correct form.

Aboobakker Edthanatukkara (President of IICR), Abdul Qayyum Bustani, Kunhi Kumbala, Abdullah Vallanchira, Adv. Abdul Jaleel, Naushad Ali Kozhikode, Mujeeb Ali Thodigappulam, Muhammad Kutty Kadannamanna, Fasal Rahman City Flower, Mujeeb Irumbuzhi, Jaleel Alappuzha, Arafat & others were present on the occasion.

Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh holds blood donation camp

Riyadh: On the occasion of 71st Republic Day of India, Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) conducted BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN on the 17th Jan 2020 at KING SAUD Universities King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh.

This is one of KWARs Prestigious Humanitarian EVENT every year, as we are indebted to serve the society for a Great Cause.

The campaign began at 08:30 am with a theme of Republic Day Celebrations and went on till 3:30 pm. Irrespective of Friday being a weekend and holiday people came in good numbers to donate Blood. The Hospital Staff, The Doctors and the Blood Bank Technicians and others at King Khalid University Hospital were more than happy to serve all those who have participated in this campaign.

KWAR Thanks all the Hospital Staff especially Mr. Salman Baqsh for his introduction of KWAR to Blood Bank and all the arrangements for this campaign, without his support this could not been done. Dr. Zafar Mahmoud for his wonderful support during the campaign and Mr. Abdullah Al Saman for his outstanding Hospitality throughout the campaign. KWAR also thanks all the donors who came all the way voluntarily for this Great Humanitarian Cause. As a token of gesture KWAR awarded Certificate of Appreciation to all the participants.

And KWAR would like to thank specially Mr. Nasir, Representative of Blood Helpline Karnataka, who encouraged many donors and made them to actively participate and donate blood for this noble cause.

KWAR’s core activities was on display on the screen, with most of the Committee members were present at the venue to serve the donors. KWAR thanks all the members, the Executive committee and all those who took their valuable time to organize this event successfully and thank all our well-wishers who supported us for the BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN. We in KWAR wish every Donor and the participants a healthy life ahead, and we need everyone's active participation in all our Future events.
