Kenyan gang-raped in moving car in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 21: A woman from Kenya has accused four men of gang-raping her in a moving car in south Delhi’s Saket in the early hours of Friday. The accused have been arrested, the police said.

Kenyan gang-rapedThe woman, who came to India on a tourist visa, was found lying in an injured and unconscious state near east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar around 2:45 am. The police said the incident was reported by DND Flyway staff. “A medical examination of the woman has confirmed sexual assault. She had also consumed alcohol,” said a police officer.

A case of rape under Indian Penal Code has been filed, but the police are also probing into charges made by the accused. On interrogation, the four men claimed that the woman was a call girl.

“While the woman said that she was gang-raped, the accused in their counter claims stated that the victim filed the complaint following a dispute over money,” the officer added.

On Friday, the police also sought help from two translators and the woman’s statement was recorded at Mayur Vihar police station.

She told the police that she knew three accused and was returning home after a party in Saket. “She boarded a car from near PVR Anupam in Saket,” the officer said.

Late on Thursday, the woman claimed that they went to a discotheque after which the accused offered to drop her home. “It is said that the accused purchased bottles of liquor and shared it with her in their car. The woman was then raped in the car,” the officer added.

Kozhikode, Jul 20: A 17-year old boy died of head injuries while trying to protect his mother from being assaulted by his drunk father here, police said on Sunday.

The youngster suffered the fatal injury after his head hit against the door when his father shoved him at their home on Saturday. Venu, had come home in an inebriated state and picked up a quarrel with his wife and started beating her up, they said.

On seeing this, Alan tried to intervene. Though the boy was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved, they added. Venu was arrested and a case has been registered.

Belagavi, Jan 19: Miscreants have murdered a couple and their son at Dodwad Village, about 50 km from here, in the wee hours on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Shvananda Basavanthappa Andanashetty, his wife Shanthavva and their son Vinod.

Senior Police officials visited the spot and a case was registered at Dodwad Police Station.

Nagpur, July 21: In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old boy allegedly killed self in Maharashtra's Nagpur city after being reprimanded by his mother for buying a samosa, police said on Tuesday.

Veeru Natthu Sahu was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his home in Ganga Nagar in Gittikhadan area on Sunday night, an official said.

The deceased boy's family was struggling to make ends meet after their small business was hit because of the coronavirus-induced lockdown, he said.

The Class 7 student had taken Rs 10 from home without asking his mother and bought a samosa, which was then eaten by his elder brother, the official said.

The boy's mother scolded him for taking money without her permission and asked him to get the snack for himself, following which the distraught minor allegedly went into the kitchen and hanged himself using a saree, he said.

The Gittikhadan police have registered a case of accidental death in this regard, the official added.
