Kevin Misquith set to rock in Bahrain

Manama: Young Konkani music icon Kevin Misquith will host a show in Bahrain next year. bahrain 3Bahrain Konkans, in association with the Indian Club Bahrain, will host ‘Kevin Misquith Live in Concert’ on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Indian Club auditorium. A part of the proceedings will be donated for the education of underprivileged girls of Konkan region.

Kevin Misquith, born in Bahrain, first emerged in the Konkani music scene in 2004 with the release of his debut album ‘Rupnem’. Since then he has never looked back and has been performing consistently providing quality music.

Kevin Misquith released his debut Konkani album, ‘Rupnem’ in 2004. Following the huge response for his debut album, he released yet another Konkani hit album ‘Tuji Yaad’ in 2007. His third music album, ‘He Jeen’ in 2008, too had a very good response from the Konkani and non-Konkani music lovers, and was a huge success.

His album “Thembe Thembe” has been a trend setter in Konkani music, several new experiments were done in this album by Kevin Misquith and almost every album released since then has followed the same concept.

The song and the album “Thembe Thembe” was such a big hit that a host of Konkani songs on rains were released after that, almost every other album had a song on rains. His recently released music album ‘Ek Geet” can be termed the best among all which is creating a huge buzz among music lovers all over with record sales and super hit songs.

He has performed live in Mangalore, Bangalore, Mumbai, Goa and even internationally in the Middle East countries for various music shows, festivals and his own Kevin Misquith live in concerts. He is the only Konkani music composer after the great legends to have performed 40 in a quick succession at a very young age.

Kevin Misquith, graduated from St Aloysius College Mangalore, was born on 19th January 1987 to Elias and Violet Misquith in Manama, Bahrain.

Well-known compere Dr Vincent Alva will be the anchor of the show. Dr Alva (Vincy, Pamboor) - known for his unique style of compering - is an orator par excellence and well known to the Konkani Community as a columnist, short-story writer, translator, lyricist, singer and a critique.

‘Kushali Kinnigoli’ famed leading Konkani comedian Roystan Kiran D’souza, along with other artists, will entertain the audience with his rib-tickling comedy. Twenty-two-year-old Roystan hails from Balkunje and electrical engineer by profession. He formed ‘Kushali Kinnigoli’ team and won first place in Namma TV ‘Yeya Haseya’ Konkani comedy show in 2015. He bagged second place in Namma TV ‘Bale Telipale Udupi.”

The young comedian has already performed more than 20 shows in Mangalore, five shows in Mumbai and also performed in Qatar. He has also directed short films during his college days and served as chief assistant director for Konkani movie ‘Sophiya.”

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.

On the occasion of 71st Republic Day of India, Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF), Karnataka State organized a blood donation camp in Doha Qatar, in association with Hamad Medical Corporation on 31st January 2020, Friday.

At first, QISF Karnataka State Vice President, Ziaul Huq welcomed the guests, dignitaries and blood donors.

The Blood Donation Camp was inaugurated by ICC President Mr. Manikantan A P who was the Chief guest. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized that, Service to humanity is service to God. By donating the blood, not only we save the lives, but we get blessings also. He also said that punctuality is the key factor in these type of events and should be incorporated by all of us.

QISF Central Committee President, Sayeed Komachi highlighted the necessity and importance of donating the blood and assured QISF a socio cultural organization will always be ready for this noble cause.

Dr. Vishwantha Kini, a well known Radiologist in HMC motivated the donors.

The camp was started at    7.00 A M and ended at 5.30 PM in which 146 people donated the blood out of 185 people registered.

SKMWA President Abdul Majeed and Dr. Haroon from Asian Medical Centre, who were also the Guests in the programme praised the initiative and efforts of QISF. 

QISF Central Committee Vice President Salam Kunnamal, General Secretary Basheer Ahmed, Northern States President Fasiuddin, QISF State and Branch Committee members Lathif Madikeri, Zakariya Pandeshwar, Saleem Bangadi, Mujeebulla Khan, Nayeem Belapu, Ibrahim UB, Toufeeq, Anwar Angargundy, Rizwan Kalladka, Asif Bannur, Imtiyaz Karnad, Jaleel Kalladka, Haneef Montepadav, Rafiq Uppinangady and other members were present during the programme.

The program was presided and concluded by QISF Karnataka State President Nazeer Pasha.

Markaz Al Madeena Association, Eastern province, conducted JALS-E-UCHILA get together program at Dammam, Saudi Arabia on March 5,2020 on account of celebrating 28 years of social service dedicated by the organization.

The event chairman Noushad Uchil inaugurated the function. The organization president presided the program and delivered talk about the intention of the organization. Hashim Uchil has intorduced the social and academic contribution of the organization of past 28 years. Jamal Uchil welcomed the gathering and Ismail G.I. host the program.

Games, Quiz and prize distribution to the winners and senior social workers was the special attraction of the event. The planning committee of the event includes Iqbal, Farooq, Shahul Hameed, Ramza, Nabeel, Afthar, Ashraf and Shafi.
