Kola, Apr 24: Two cars belonging to Omshakti Chalapathy, the BJP candidate for Kolar constituency, were set on fire by unidentified miscreants on Tuesday.
Chalapathy had parked both his cars in front of his house in Kataripalya. Police said that cars have been set ablaze at about 3 am. Both cars are completely destroyed.
Chalapathy who is the state BJP Yuva Morcha vice-president, had filed his nomination papers on Monday.
Superintendent of Police Rohini Katoch Sepat visited the spot for an inspection on Tuesday morning.
Chalapathy belongs to the Kuruba community. Present MLA of the constituency, Varthur Prakash of the Namma Congress Paksha also belongs to the same community.
BJP leaders alleged that Varthur Prakash's followers had set fire to the cars to force Omshakti Chalapathy out of the contest and ensure that the Kurba votes remain undivided.
