Kuwait: IMA conducts free medical camp; hundreds benefited

Mangaf: Hundreds of marginalized expatriates attended the Free Medical Screening camp organized by Indian Muslim Association in coordination with Indian Doctors Forum, Kuwait Heart Foundation & Kuwait Diabetes Society on 15th April 2016 at India International School, Mangaf from 8 am to 1:30 pm.

Specialized Indian Doctors in the area of Gynecology, Cardiology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopedics and PMR, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, General Medicine, Skin, General Surgery, Oncology, General Practice and Neurology examined the patients. More than 20 doctors, sacrificing their weekly holiday, gathered at the camp and put in selfless efforts to serve the community.

Around 20 skilled nurses from Indian Nurses Federation & other para-medical staff assisted the doctors in the process of preliminary check-ups.

ECG, BMI, blood sugar, blood pressure tests were arranged for the public in addition to the blood cholesterol test done by Kuwait Heart Foundation. Ultrasonic Scanning facilities were arranged with assistance from Ashraf & Co & Marina Optics provided optometrist support.

Engineer Abdul Lateef Al Munaifee from Social Reforms Society, Shaikh Abdul Mannan from Masjid Kabir were the Chief guests at the event, visited each counter at the camp to encourage and appreciate the efforts of the doctors, nurses & volunteers.

IMA volunteers from Fahaheel, Abu Halifa zones made sure Free Medical Consultation and examination facilities at the camp were utilized by hundreds of needy, labor class employees by arranging numerous visits to labor camps prior to the event day. Many teams met laborers in the camps individually to register participants for the event.

The relentless efforts and hours of hard work by the both male & female volunteers from IMA ensured smooth functioning of the camp & helped hundreds of patients from different walks of life, suffering from varied health complications benefit from this noble event.

Masood Shehab, President, Indian Muslim Association along with the entire Central Working Committee was available at the venue all through the day to ensure smooth flow of events.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
