Kuwait: IMA holds programme on ‘Investment Opportunities for Expats’

Kuwait: Indian Muslim Association- Kuwait, conducted a counselling program on ‘Investment Opportunities for Expats’ recently at Indian Community School, Senior Branch, Salmiya.

The program started with recitation of verses from The Holy Quran by Master Ismail Mohammed Hasan followed by translation.Experts from the field delivered speeches on key topics related to the Program theme, “Investment Opportunities for Expats”.

Mr. Jamal Jaffar commenced his topic on the General Investment with a presentation enunciating two categories of the available general investments; Direct Investment and Indirect Investments. He explained various categories of investments opportunities available in the direct category of investments such as fixed deposits, real estate, stock markets etc.

Whereas indirect investments will include investments real estate funds, stock funds, hire purchase/leasing funds etc. Mr. Jamal Jaffar further highlighted the risk and return award on each category of investments. For e.g. For an investor the investment in fixed deposit with a bank yields a low rate of return vis a vis an equity stock investment with a high yield however the risk is quite high in such categories of the investment. He enunciated that the investor should be careful and adjudge the underlying risk under each category of investment before making any decision.

Mr. Firdaus Alam Khan commenced his topic on “Stock Market Trading for Beginners-Fundamental Analysis” presenting to audience the mode and methodology of an analysis to be performed before any decisions are taken for any stock investment. He emphasized a basic analysis needs to be performed in terms of the industry, the nature of business, senior management, objectives, history, background, etc. before any particular stock is selected for an investment. The most important methodology to adjudge any stock is to review its financial statements which comprise of the director’s report, audit report, balance sheet, income statement, profit and loss and notes to accounts.

Mr. Firdaus Khan stressed to state that should the investor fail to perform the above basic analysis and financial statements review, it might result in to an absolutely improper stock investment and investors should avoid investing based on recommendation, tips, investment for day trading and gambling etc. He ended his speech by enumerating the sources where an investors can obtain the stock information’s and as well as welcome the audience to approach him through his email or phone should any information be required.

Mr. Mohammed Hasan Noor commenced his topic on “Stock Market Trading for Beginners-Technical Analysis” stating the importance of technical scrutiny is quite imperative before any stock investment. He enunciated that though the fundamental analysis as stated by Mr. Firdaus Alam Khan is quite important for any stock selection however technical analysis equally carries the same weightage. It may happen that any of the stock might have strong fundamental however the market price of that particular stock might be overvalued due to significant demand or other factors. This might result in the investor buying a stock at higher market price then its actual value.

Mr. Hasan emphasized that the timing of purchase of any stock needs to be adjudged thoroughly and there are various methods or techniques to adjudge it. He demonstrated some of the techniques through graphs and line charts which enlightened the audience on the relevance of the market trading price of the stocks. He too ended his speech by enumerating the sources where an investors can obtain the information and as well as welcome the audience to approach him through his email or phone should any further clarifications be required.

There was a Question and Answer session at the end of the program where in all the 3 speakers took time to answer all the queries and made sure audience went home with all their concerns addressed. Mr. Yusuf Chorghay convened the event. Snacks were served at the end of the program.

Dammam: President of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Mr.Wasim Rabbani urged immediate intervention of Indian government to help Non Residential Indians who are in trouble due to corona pandemic in Saudi Arabia.

He said in a press rease that expatriate Indians are in concern  as number of corona infected people and  deaths are increasing in danger level.

Hea said, "the Saudi health minister's statement a few days ago indicates that the situation in Saudi needs to be taken more seriously with precautionary methods. There are concerns among expatriates because the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths reported in various provinces are increasing at an alarming rate."

"Saudi Government and Health Ministry are taking excellent precautionary measures, however, in the coming days expect to see the number of cases to increase in Saudi Arabia. The Indian government needs to take diplomatic and immediate intervention to ensure the treatment of Indian expatriates considering the number of effected people increasing", He said.

He also urged that the Embassy and the Government of India should ensure qaurantiane faculty for Indian expatriates and arrange special low cost flights to bring back expatriates who would like to return home country.

" Government of India and Indian embassy need to intervene immediately to ensure that the quarantine system is in place for Indian expatriates as the facilities in the rooms where the residents are staying together are very limited. There should also be a mechanism to organize low-cost flight services for expatriates who are ready to go home. The government system should also be able to accommodate the expatriates in special quarantine areas in hometown as soon they arrive in India", he urged.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.
