Kuwait: IMA launches ‘Quran for All’ campaign

Kuwait: Indian Muslim Association (IMA) has organized a 15-day campaign on ‘Quran for All’ from 4th November to 18th Nov 2016. A launching program was held at the Grand Mosque (Masjid Al-Kabeer) Kuwait.

This campaign is intended to clear the misunderstandings associated with the holy Quran and Islam. This will help promote an environment of better understanding among different faiths and communities. The campaign will advance the very purpose of uniting humankind under universal message of peace, tranquility and friendship as emphasized in the holy book.

The holy Qur’an carries an incredible message of truth, compassion, goodwill & tolerance leading humankind towards a peaceful & successful life. IMA through this Campaign, would humbly request for the support from the people towards this noble cause.

During the campaign people from different faiths and religions will be participating. Small gatherings and meets will be arranged where the scholars and intellectuals from Muslims as well as non-Muslims will address and contribute towards the success of the Campaign. A leading scholar from India, Iqbal Mulla Sahab will address the concluding programs of the Campaign on 17 and 18th November 2016.

The copies of the holy Qur’an with translations in various languages will be made available for free distribution. An Exhibition displaying the message of the Holy Qur’an will be held during the campaign.

Various competitions will be held during the campaign. An essay writing competition is being arranged during the ‘Quran for All – Campaign’. Where students from all faiths are encouraged to participate. The handwritten essays to be mailed [email protected]

Indian Muslim Association (IMA) is a premier Indian Embassy affiliated, religious, social welfare Organization in Kuwait, strives hard to inculcate moral values. It works closely amongst Indian Expatriates living in Kuwait. IMA is trying to develop sense of responsibility among men & women alike with a special focus on youth of new generation so that they would appropriately represent our beloved nation in this foreign land.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.
