Kuwait: Indian Social Forum organizes health camp

Indian Social Forum (ISF), a socio cultural organization of Indians in Kuwait, in association with BADR Al Samaa organized a Free Health Camp on Friday, 25th August 2017 at BADR AL SAMAA Medical Centre Farwaniya.

Hundreds of expatriates including women and children benefited from the health camp. Free checkup including Fasting Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Total Cholesterol, SGPT (Liver Screening) and Creatinine (Kidney Screening) were provided for the camp participants. Majority of them made use of the free Consultation from Doctors specialized in General Medicine, Internal Medicine, Urology, Gynecology, Pediatrics, General Surgery, and Dentistry.This social initiative was a part of forum's ongoing efforts aimed at creating health awareness among expatriates especially less privileged sections of Indian community. 

The daylong event was formally inaugurated at 07:30AM by Mr. Hassan Yusuf, Social Activist and Ex. President of Karnataka Muslim Welfare Association. Mr. Abdul Razak, Administration Manager, BADR Al Samaa was present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, he briefed about the lifestyle diseases. He alleged that, common people often fail to recognize symptoms of deceases at the early stage. Timely diagnosis and preventive measures to be adopted for a healthy life. ISF Karnataka Chapter President, Mr. ImtiyazArkula elaborated the social initiatives taken by Social Forum. Mr. RafeekManchi, General Secretary, ISF Central Committee delivered the welcome note. Mohammad Asif anchored proceedings. The event was coordinated by Shah Faisal.

The Social Forum had congratulated the Doctors, the Staff and the management of Badr Al Samaa who rendered service and contributed for the camp's success. At the conclusion ceremony, a memento was presented to BADR Al Samaa in recognition for their ongoing commitment and dedicated service in the field of Healthcare.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.
