LDF unseats BJP at Enmakaje

Kasaragod, Aug 9: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was on Wednesday unseated in the Enmakaje grama panchayat with the Left Democratic Front (LDF) supporting a no-confidence motion moved by the United Democratic Front (UDF).

The UDF had 7, LDF 3, and the BJP 7 members in the council. The BJP was governing the panchayat after the party won a draw of lots after the 2015 local body polls. The motion moved by Congress member Y. Sarada accusing panchayat president Roopavani R. Bhat of taking unilateral decisions was supported by the LDF.

On August 2, the BJP was unseated in the Karadka grama panchayat after the UDF supported a no-trust motion moved by the LDF. The BJP had seven, LDF 5, and the UDF 3 members in the council.

Bengaluru, April 3: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bengaluru has arrested two persons for allegedly possessing illicit liquor.

The probe team also allegedly seized bottles worth Rs 1.25 lakhs from their possession on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the accused and investigation into the matter is underway, Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police informed news agency.

More details in this regard are awaited.

Providing relief to the needy is the need of the hour.  Responding to this humanitarian crisis, Dakshina Kannada Automobile & Tyre Dealers Association has contributed a sum of Rs. One Lakh towards Covid-19 relief.

Association President Sri Kasturi Prabhakar Pai along with Vice President Sri Harsha Kumar Kedige, Secretary Sri K. Vilas Kumar and Treasurer Sri Maroor Shashidhar Pai handed over two cheques for Rs. 50,000/- each favouring ‘PM Cares’ – the Prime Minister’s Covid-l9 Relief Fund and ‘Chief Minister Relief Fund Covid-l9’ of Karnataka respectively to Smt. Sindhu B. Rupesh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of D. K. District at her office in Mangalore on Monday, May 4, 2020.
