LKG student Fatima Tauhida killed by reckless school van

Mangaluru, Jun 17: A four-year-old girl died after she was hit by her school van near Charmadi in Belthangady taluk on Thursday.

accidentThe victim has been identified as Fatima Tauhida (4), daughter of Hamad Kunhi residing at Shivabettu Road house at Charmadi. She was an LKG student of an English medium school in Kakkinje.

The tragedy occurred at 4.50 p.m., after the girl was dropped by the school van near her house after the class.

According to police, after alighting from the school van Tauhida and her elder sister were crossing the road from the backside of the van.

All of a sudden, the school van moved backward and knocked down Tauhida. Even though the girl was immediately rushed to a hospital, she breathed her los on the way.

Eye witnesses held the recklessness van driver responsible for the tragedy. Soon after hitting the girl, the driver abandoned the school van and escaped.

A case has been registered at Dharmasthala police station and investigations are on.

90% of these mini van drivers are the worst in mangalore town also..running around in city with rash attitude, high music and horning around other vehicles and overtaking recklessly....
At least the authorities should put some control on these rubbish drivers for the sake of our kids. every one does not afford to send kids by school transport buses..

Mangaluru, May 21: The third repatriation flight from Dubai to Mangaluru will operate on Saturday, May 23, confirmed union minister D V Sadananda Gowda. This will operate via Bengaluru.

The first and second direct repatriation flights from Dubai had landed at Mangaluru International Airport on May 12 and May 18. There were more than 175 passengers on board each of these flights.

On May 23, Air India flight (IX 0384) will take off at Dubai at 4:30 p.m. and land at Bengaluru at 9:50 p.m. It will again take off at 10:50 p.m. and land at Mangaluru at 11:45 p.m.

However, ministry of civil aviation sources said that no final decision has been taken about carrying passengers by these flights to Mangaluru.

Bengaluru, Apr 4: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has appealed to employers not to cut salaries of their maids, servants and drivers who are unable to attend work due to the current lockdown situation in the country.

He said compassionate gesture of employers will support the poor and needy.

"I request all the employers not to cut salaries of their maids, servants, drivers etc., who are not able to work due to social distancing. Your compassionate gesture will support the poor and needy to overcome this hard time. FightBackKarnataka CoronavirusPandemic," the Chief Minister said in a tweet.

Bengaluru, May 8: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday held a meeting with opposition parties at his office here over COVID-19 situation in the state.

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress leaders SR Patil and DK Shivakumar participated in the meeting. From Janata Dal (Secular), former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and HD Revanna were present.

"Congress legislative party leader Siddaramaiah and DK Shivkumar have arranged the Chief Minister to request the central government to announce a special package of Rs 50,000 crore to Karnataka to fight coronavirus and also special packages requested for small and medium scale industries," said Siddaramaiah's media secretary.

Meanwhile, Yediyurappa has announced a special package for those involved in leather works, especially those who work on the roadside.

The special package has been announced for cobblers and leather workers, who work on the roadside.
