LKG student Fatima Tauhida killed by reckless school van

Mangaluru, Jun 17: A four-year-old girl died after she was hit by her school van near Charmadi in Belthangady taluk on Thursday.

accidentThe victim has been identified as Fatima Tauhida (4), daughter of Hamad Kunhi residing at Shivabettu Road house at Charmadi. She was an LKG student of an English medium school in Kakkinje.

The tragedy occurred at 4.50 p.m., after the girl was dropped by the school van near her house after the class.

According to police, after alighting from the school van Tauhida and her elder sister were crossing the road from the backside of the van.

All of a sudden, the school van moved backward and knocked down Tauhida. Even though the girl was immediately rushed to a hospital, she breathed her los on the way.

Eye witnesses held the recklessness van driver responsible for the tragedy. Soon after hitting the girl, the driver abandoned the school van and escaped.

A case has been registered at Dharmasthala police station and investigations are on.

90% of these mini van drivers are the worst in mangalore town also..running around in city with rash attitude, high music and horning around other vehicles and overtaking recklessly....
At least the authorities should put some control on these rubbish drivers for the sake of our kids. every one does not afford to send kids by school transport buses..

Udupi, Apr 8: Six patients were admitted to isolation wards in the hospitals in the district on Tuesday.

While four people were suffering from symptoms of COVID-19, two were suffering from SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection).

As many as 19 samples were collected and sent for Covid-19 testing to a laboratory in Shivamogga.

Mangaluru, Feb 7: In an attempt to promote menstrual hygiene among women, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has installed vending machines and incinerators to dispense and dispose off sanitary napkins at 10 bus stands of the state including Mangaluru.

The machines have been installed inside the women's washroom and women can purchase sanitary napkins from the vending machines by inserting five rupee coins.

Nearly 100 napkins can be stored in the vending machines at a time and housekeeping personnel have been instructed to replenish the stock, as and when required.

While directions on how to use the machine have been displayed near the machines, people can get seek assistance from housekeeping staff if needed.

Initially, the machines were installed at two depots in Bengaluru on a pilot basis and in the second phase it has been extended to 10 KSRTC bus depots.

Bengaluru, Aug 8: Karnataka government on Friday issued revised guidelines for international returnees.

According to the guidelines, all the travelers shall submit self-declaration form on the Yatri Karnataka online portal at least 72 hours before the scheduled date of travel.

"All travelers shall submit Self-declaration forrn on the Yatri Karnataka online portal (http://www,covidwar.karnataka.gov.in or http://parihara.kaarnateka.gov.in/service38/) least 72 hours before the scheduled date of travel," it read.

It said that Before Boarding Do's and Don, about COV1D-19 quarantine, testing, etc. shall be provided along with ticket to the travellers by the travel agencies concerned.

All passengers shall download Arogya Setu app, Quarantine watch app end Apthamitra App on their mobile devices, (https://covid-19.karnataka.gov.in/new-page/softwares/en).

At the time of boarding the flight/ ship, only asymptomatic travellers shall be allowed in board after thermal screening.

"Deboarding should be done by ensuring physical distancing of two meters. 

Self-declaration form shall be obtained from each passenger in duplicate," the guidelines read.

Karnataka has 75,076 active cases of the virus with 80,281 recovered and 2,897 deaths so far.
