LKG student Fatima Tauhida killed by reckless school van

Mangaluru, Jun 17: A four-year-old girl died after she was hit by her school van near Charmadi in Belthangady taluk on Thursday.

accidentThe victim has been identified as Fatima Tauhida (4), daughter of Hamad Kunhi residing at Shivabettu Road house at Charmadi. She was an LKG student of an English medium school in Kakkinje.

The tragedy occurred at 4.50 p.m., after the girl was dropped by the school van near her house after the class.

According to police, after alighting from the school van Tauhida and her elder sister were crossing the road from the backside of the van.

All of a sudden, the school van moved backward and knocked down Tauhida. Even though the girl was immediately rushed to a hospital, she breathed her los on the way.

Eye witnesses held the recklessness van driver responsible for the tragedy. Soon after hitting the girl, the driver abandoned the school van and escaped.

A case has been registered at Dharmasthala police station and investigations are on.

90% of these mini van drivers are the worst in mangalore town also..running around in city with rash attitude, high music and horning around other vehicles and overtaking recklessly....
At least the authorities should put some control on these rubbish drivers for the sake of our kids. every one does not afford to send kids by school transport buses..

Mangaluru, Jan 8: Dakshina Kannada District In-Charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, on Wednesday announced that the District Administration will organise the Karavali Utsava from January 10-19 at Karavali Utsava Maidaan here in the city.

The minister was addressing a press conference on Wednesday morning at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He informed that a rally will march from Nehru Maidaan to Karavali Utsava Maidaan on January 10 to officially mark the inauguration of the utsava. 
The rally will be flagged off by Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.

Beach Utsava and Kite Festival will be organised at the Panambur beach on January 17, 18 and 19 as a part of Karavali Utsava.

Mangaluru, Jun 15: A father and his four-year-old son were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a lorry from behind at Bakampady junction on the outskirts of the city.

The Police said the deceased has been identified as Abdul Bhasheer, a resident of Krishnapura and his son Shayan. 

On Sunday evening, Bahseer was going from Mangaluru to Krishnapura by the motorcycle along with wife and son when a speeding lorry "dashed into the motorcycle from behind and knocked them down''.

The four-year-old son died on the spot while Basher and his wife were rushed to the hospital. However, the husband succumbed to injuries at the hospital on Monday. Local police registered a case in this connection.

Bengaluru, Mar 29: The State government launched a mobile application for people to track the movement history of patients, who tested positive, before their detection so that they can take precautions. The app will give the date and time of visit to spots by the patients.

The mobile app “Corona Watch” can be downloaded from Google Playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ksrsac.drawshapefile

“The app also has a list of government designated first response hospitals for COVID-19 where citizen with symptoms can go. However, before going to a COVID hospital, people should call helplines — 104, 080-46848600 or 080-66692000,” said a message by Munish Moudgil, secretary, Administrative Reforms, who is also in-charge of the State COVID war room.
