LOL! 4 robbers end up stealing passbook machine mistaking it for ATM

Four slow-brained' robbers from remote villages in north-eastern India's Assam state have gained international fame after they stole a passbook printing machine from a local branch of State Bank of India mistaking it to for an ATM cash dispenser.

A photo of the four robbers – Sahab Ali, Saiful Rahman, Mainul Haque and Saddam Hussain, all residents of different villages around Guwahati – posing with the stolen machine, has gone viral on social media cross the world within a couple of days.

The incident took place on Monday near Guwahati. According to officers, the thieves dragged the machine out of the Vinobanagar bank branch and hurriedly transported it.

The robbers somehow managed to use a VIP car for the crime. However they were caught trying to zip away in a Chevrolet by a routine police patrol team. A few local residents also thrashed the robbers in front of the cops.

2 SpiceJet pilots suspended for improper landing at Mangaluru Airport

New Delhi, Feb 13: Two SpiceJet pilots have been suspended today for an improper landing at Mangalore Airport which damaged three runway edge lights. The incident took place on October 31 last year when the private carrier's Boeing 737 aircraft was returning from Dubai.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) suspended the licenses of the pilots for four-and-half months from the date of the incident.

DGCA had issued a show cause notice to the Pilot in Command and the First Officer demanding explanation of the "lapses" and found their replies unsatisfactory, the aviation watchdog said in a statement.

Investigation revealed that the touchdown was improper as it deviated to the the left on the runway in turn damaging three runway edge lights.

Covid-19: Udupi district admin allows movement of horticultural produce

Udupi, Apr 2: The Udupi Administration has given its nod to lift and transport watermelons, pineapples, papaya and Mattu Gulla after growers in the district complained that their produce will go waste and start rotting due to the lockdown on account of COVID-19.

In statement issued here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said that the administration has already held a meeting with wholesale fruit merchants registered with the Agriculture Marketing Produce Committee (APMC).

It has directed these merchants to purchase 35 tonnes of pineapples, 55 tonnes of watermelons and 5,000 bunches of bananas from growers and sell them within the district and also send them to other districts. Such transportation has been exempted from prohibitory orders, he said.
