Love is a waste of time: So is this new PK song starring Aamir, Anushka

November 14, 2014

PK songMumbai, Nov 14: Here is a list of things that can be considered a "vaste" (read: Waste) of (your) time: poster releases of PK, the controversies surrounding them, the guessing game about Aamir Khan's character in the film, efforts to spot Sushant Singh Rajput in the trailer and listening to the new PK song, which is aptly called "Waste of Time".

Remember Hrithik Roshan in Koi Mil Gaya? Picture him, just about half his height, with scary bug eyes, arched eyebrows and flappy ears, and you have Aamir Khan of PK. Also, while you are at it, try to recall Preity Zinta's horrible haircut from Lakshya and replace Zinta's face with Anushka Sharma's. Et voila, you know the two actors in "Waste of Time".

Now, to imagine the picturisation of this song, try to recall Katrina Kaif dancing in a row of fountains, in a sheer dress, in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Now replace Kaif with Khan, in a hat and floral-printed shirt.

The rest of the time, Sharma babysits Khan around New Delhi — wiping his sweaty head and his milkshake moushtaches as he stares at her with his creepy stalker eyes. That's all that happens in this video of the song. If you choose to not hear it, you will spared yourself the experience of hearing lyrics like:

" Tujhe tak tak tak, takte rehna,

Teri bak bak bak sunte rehna

Kaam kaj sab bhul bhulake,

Tere piche piche chalte rehna,

E toh hai vaste of time,

Love is a vaste of time."

The music of the song is retro and simple, which should make you remember the best of vintage Bollywood but just ends up being boring although Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal try hard to make it fun.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, PK is all set to hit the screens on 19th December. The film also stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjay Dutt in important roles.

Chennai, Jan 15: Superstar Rajinikanth on Tuesday called for neutrality in journalism and urged media outlets to report the truth.

Addressing an event organised by Tamil magazine ''Thuglak' in Chennai, the superstar-turned-politician said that the country needs a journalist like the late Cho S Ramaswamy, who helmed the publication for decades.

"The times, politics and society are going bad. In such a scenario, the media had a huge responsibility towards the people," he said.

Some television channels are biased towards political parties, Rajinikanth said. He added that media, critics and journalists must report the truth impartially.

Comparing true news to milk and fake reportage to water, Rajinikanth said people will not be able to distinguish between the two if they are mixed.

"Only journalists need to tell which portion is milk and which is water...write the truth and don't make a lie seem like truth," he said, amid applause.
