Mysuru, Oct 10: Public Works minister Dr H C?Mahadevappa said on Saturday that his friend Chandra Verma (Dr Girish Chandra Verma) had gifted him the Hublot watch.
Activist T?J?Abraham had filed a private complaint before the Lokayukta special court in Bengaluru on Friday, regarding the Hublot watches worth Rs 45 lakh each, presented to the minister and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking to reporters here, Mahadevappa described the complaint as politically motivated and said it was baseless.
Belagavi, Jan 19: Miscreants have murdered a couple and their son at Dodwad Village, about 50 km from here, in the wee hours on Sunday.
The victims were identified as Shvananda Basavanthappa Andanashetty, his wife Shanthavva and their son Vinod.
Senior Police officials visited the spot and a case was registered at Dodwad Police Station.
Kochi, Mar 24: A 54-year-old domestic passenger was arrested at the airport here for allegedly refusing to follow instructions given by doctorsfor prevention of the spread of novel coronavirus, police said here on Tuesday.
Lami Arackal from Ernakulam, who landed from Chennai at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery on Monday night, was arrested based on a complaint from health officials, they said.
He was, however, later released on bail.
Arackal allegedly refused to wear mask and follow other instructions to be observed by the passengers coming from other states as part of the measures to check COVID-19 spread.
He also allegedly misbehaved with the medical officers, police said.
Jun 5: The fear of contracting COVID-19 infection allegedly forced a 65-year-old man to commit suicide in Maharashtra's Beed district, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred at Mangewadi in Patoda on Thursday, when a passerby found the body of Asaram Pote hanging from a tree in his farm, an official said.
The police were immediately alerted and Pote's body was brought down in the presence of his relatives and locals, he said.
A suicide note was found on the deceased's person, in which he said that he had taken the extreme step as he was scared of contracting COVID-19 infection and no one should be held responsible for his death, the official said.
A case of accidental death was registered in this regard and further probe was underway, he added.
