Mahesh Babu: Not Scared to Compete With Baahubali, But it Deserves Solo Release

Hyderabad, Jun 25: Superstar Mahesh Babu said every film lover should be proud of SS Rajamouli's epic war drama Baahubali, adding that its success is crucial for Telugu cinema.

He was speaking after being named the goodwill ambassador of Rainbow Children Hospital.

Mahesh Babu's Srimanthudu, which was earlier set to release on July 17, exactly a week after Baahubali hits the screen, has now been pushed to August 7.

"We didn't postpone our film because we were scared to compete with Baahubali. I think it deserves to a solo release and we should respect it. It's healthy to have two or three weeks' gap between big releases," he said.

Talking about his association with the hospital, he said he was happy to be part of any initiative for children.

"They have set benchmarks in childcare and are well known for their efforts to provide high standards of health care for children. I would like to commend their commitment in providing world-class medical services," he said.

When asked if he would collaborate with his son to endorse the facility, he said: "Why not? It's a children's hospital and if we get an opportunity to endorse together, I really don't mind."

Rainbow Groups is spread across Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Bangalore with bed strength of 700 beds. It has ongoing projects in Visakhapatnam, Chennai and Jaipur.

Los Angeles, Feb 21: Nepalese-Australian actor Dichen Lachman has joined the cast of the third film in the Jurassic World franchise.

Lachman, best known for Netflix series Altered Carbon and TNT show Animal Kingdom, is the latest addition to the Colin Trevorrow-directed picture, reported Deadline.

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment project will see Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles. Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise are also part of the cast.

The movie marks the return of original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum.

Trevorrow has co-written the script of the new film with Emily Carmichael. He will also executive produce the film with Steven Spielberg.

Jurassic World 3 hits theatres on June 11, 2021.

Mumbai, Jul 23: Mumbai Police will soon issue summons to actor Kangana Ranaut to record her statement in connection with the case related to the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, officials said on Thursday.

A day after Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide, Kangana Ranaut had released a two-minute video speaking highly of the deceased actor and accusing certain sections of the film industry of not acknowledging the star's talent.

She had also said that some of the last social media posts by the actor made it evident that he was struggling to survive in the industry.

According to the police, statements of 39 people, including film critic Rajeev Masand, director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and filmmaker Aditya Chopra have been recorded in the investigation so far.

The Mumbai Police had recently said the statements of three psychiatrists and one psychotherapist have been recorded in connection with the suicide investigation.

Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14.

Mumbai, Jan 18: Actor Shabana Azmi was injured in an accident on Saturday afternoon on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Maharashtra's Raigad district, an official said.

The incident took place around 3.30 pm near Khalapur, over 60 km from Mumbai, when the car in which she was traveling rammed into a truck, said Raigad Superintendent of Police Anil Paraskar.

She was rushed to MGM hospital in Navi Mumbai and was undergoing treatment, he said.
