Man dies while watching emotionally disturbing scene of Kannada TV serial

tvMandya, Jul 7: A man burst into tears and died of heart attack while watching an emotionally disturbing scene of his most favourite TV serial.

65-year-old Ramegowda from Kuppalli village was addicted to TV serials, and his favourite Kannada serial was Puttagowri Maduve.

Monday night's episode featured the death of the protagonist's mother following a family rift.

Family members claim that Ramegowda was so obsessed with the serial that he used to talk only about the serial.

After the serial ended, Ramegowda's wife Laksmamma called him for dinner. When he did not respond, Lakshmanna went near him and shook him. But Ramegowda was dead.

Tv serials are making people mentally ill. Should have some restrictions on emotional scenes and taking revenge.

Kasaragod, Jan 3: A serving officer of the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) was found dead inside his car in Bekal town near here early on Friday.

Police sources said the officer, Rijo Francis (35) has been under treatment after he had an heart attack last year.

Police suspect that the death could be due to heart failure.

Mangaluru, Feb 17: Kambala superstar Shrinivas Gowda, who is drawing comparisons to ace sprinter Usain Bolt, has reportedly refused to take part in athletics trials with the Sports Authority of India.

28-year-old Gowda, who hails from Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada, was celebrated as a potential Olympian after a clip of his race went viral, amid claims that he had done 100m in 9.55 seconds, against Bolt's record of 9.58. He has so far won 32 medals in 11 kambala events this season.

Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju and SAI said Gowda would appear for trials at SAI's Bengaluru centre on Monday. The government "will do everything to identify sporting talents", Rijiju had tweeted.

"I will meet the Chief Minister. I am keen on continuing in kambala," Gowda said. Asked about the clamour for a crossover into athletics, he said, "For the time being I have no plans to appear for SAI trials. I am busy with the Kambala season and will consider meeting them following that and after consulting my well-wishers."

Belagavi, Mar 19: South Western Railway (SWR) on Thursday increased the fares of the platform tickets at Belagavi, Hubballi and Ballari.

The rate of platform tickets has been increased to Rs 50 with effect from Thursday till March 31, in order to control the crowding at platforms in view of the coronavirus outbreak.

Belagavi, Hubballi, and Bellari were all big stations and maximum number of people, including both passengers and those there to see them off come or to receive them at these railway stations, a SWR official sources said.
