Man stabs school chairman after wishing him for Eid-ul-Fitr

Bidar, Jul 11: Abdul Jabbar (39), chairman of Cambridge School here, was grievously injured when a young man from the Old City attacked him in his house on Sunday.

stabIn the afternoon, Adam Hassim (37), a salesman of an FMCG company, went to Abdul Jabbar's house on the pretext of wishing him for Eid-ul-Fitr. He greeted him and turned to step out of the house only to return and stab Abdul Jabbar in the neck with a knife.

Abdul Jabbar's family members and neighbours rushed to the help of the victim and shifted him to the district hospital. He was later shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. Doctors said that his condition was serious, but stable.

The police arrested the accused Adam Hassim from Siddhi Taleem. A case has been registered in the Town Police Station. The motive behind the attack is not clear, though the police suspected a family feud to be among the reasons.

Kanhangad, May 10: Kasaragod district has become free from COVID-19 on Sunday.

The last remaining patient has been tested negative for coronavirus, said district medical officer Dr. A. V. Ramdas.

He added that the officials are proud to have been able to cure all 178 COVID-19 patients in the district.

Bengaluru, Apr 10: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, expressing his concern over the plight of stray animals struggling during lockdown, called upon people to feed the animals near their houses and provide them drinking water.

In a tweet he said "Due to scorching heat and Lockdown, cats, dogs and birds are suffering without water and food. In cities this situation much serious. So I appeal to people that people should see that dogs and birds their get food and water.

Please be kind and take some time off to feed stray animals and birds around your homes. Try providing them with water and leftovers so they're not parched and left hungry. Stray animals depend on wastes and leftovers from hotels and restaurants and have been hit by the Lockdown to check the spread of Corona virus.

Mangaluru, May 14: An 80-year-old woman from Kulshekar in Mangaluru, who was undergoing treatment for covid-19, today breathed her last in the hospital.

The victim, identified as P-507, was said to be in critical condition for past few days.

The elderly woman and her 45-year-old son were tested coronavirus positive on April 27 days after she got admitted to First Neuro hospital at Padil in the city.

With this the covid-19 death toll in Dakshina Kannada rose to five. Shockingly, all five victims are women. The district has so far reported 34 positive cases including five deaths. Currently there are only 14 active cases. 15 people have already discharged.
