Frank Fernandes contribution to charity, social service, peace mission and business development has led him to be the recipient of various awards and accolades.  As he says ‘my main motto is to do service to mankind on humanitarian grounds and build peace globally with cantonment’.  He has committed to continue the peace work with all his effort to go round the world with the same clear vision.

It is hard to believe but true a 10th standard pass from High School mastered the world with his larger than word motto, gained vast knowledge of various religious manuscripts and with fluency in Sanskrit slokas and upanishads spreads the peace magic everywhere he goes.  His oratory capabilities are being witnessed by most of his audience wherever he is invited on the stage and delivered the peace message.

Listening to him speaking in Konkani, Tulu, Kannada or English with ease interspersed with Sanskrit verses is an absolute pleasure.  He has clearly demonstrated that no matter where he lived his emotional connect with his moors was strong and steadfast.

Frank’s success story is a dream he nurtured in his childhood and is all the more exemplary because of his humble background he came from.  Looking at other rich people in the vicinity during his earlier days, he always dreamt of becoming a businessman.  But the difference in Frank is that he did not allow his dreams to overpower him.  Instead he overpowered his dreams in his own inimitable style to care out his success story. Above all, he is a humanitarian, with concern for the fellow human being and is known for his wide-ranging philanthropic activities which have benefitted many individuals and institutions across the country.

Frank is blessed with two very profound qualities like a sonorous voice and a photographic memory and he has accentuated these qualities with his reading habits.  He is a voracious reader who reads all sorts of books and scriptures and these qualities have made him a top notch public speaker.

He adheres to a daily regimen of exercise and eats moderately which he says keeps him healthy and energetic to face the rigors of life.  You will doubt his age when you see his personality and one will surely follow his way of life to keep themselves fit.  However he always gives the credit to his wife who he says is always supportive and caring ‘and that’s the secret of my good health & youthful looks’ he admits.

Frank gratefully recalls the calming effect his wife Alice (Correa) Fernandes in his life as she had taken up the full responsibility of the family and has given him 4 handsome sons, Oliver Fernandes, Larry Fernandes, Nelson Fernandes Herick Fernandes and a beautiful daughter Sharon Fernandes who is married to Loyel Sequeira and who resides in Ireland, Dublin.

Hubballi, Feb 16: Rs 72,000 crore investment proposals were received at the Invest Karnataka meet, here on Friday, for the states northern region, said an official on Saturday.

"About 50 foreign and domestic firms have proposed to invest Rs 72,000 crore in the northwest and northern regions of the state and a dozen companies signed agreements with us," state Industries Department Secretary Gaurav Gupta said.

Rajesh Exports, Bengaluru-based group, signed an agreement to set up a manufacturing unit at Dharwad to rollout electric vehicles and make lithium ion batteries.

"Rajesh Exports proposes to invest about Rs 50,000 crore for manufacturing electric cars and lithium ion batteries for the domestic and overseas markets. It will generate about 10,000 jobs," said Gupta.

Similarly, Sonali Power has signed a pact with the state nodal agency (Udyog Mitra) to set up a solar power plant at Davangere at a cost of Rs 4,800 crore, which will generate 2,100 direct jobs.

Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa claimed several firms had come forward to collectively invest Rs 1 lakh crore since the BJP government came into being in July 2019.

"Many Indian and foreign firms will sign agreements with the state government at the 3-day Global Investors meet in Bengaluru on November 3-5," Yediyurappa said at the 'Invest Karnataka' meet.

Noting that Karnataka was rich in natural and human resources, especially in high-tech and skilled workforce, Yediyurappa said investment opportunities were plenty in aerospace, automobiles, machine tools, electric vehicles and bio-technology besides information technology.

"About 40 global firms expressed interest to invest in the state at a roadshow held at Davos, Switzerland, on the margins of the World Economic Forum (WEF) meet on January 23," he said.

Under the new industrial policy, the state government will set up clusters to make toys at Koppal, textiles in Bellari, solar equipment at Kalaburagi and farm machinery at Bidar.

"We are committed to make North Karnataka a power house of industries for the region's development, with Hubballi-Dharwad as the growth hub," Yediyurappa said.

Dubai, Jul 8: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has revoked landing permits issued to UAE-based private jets flying Indian expats who are willing to fly back to UAE. With this the operation of private jets from India to the UAE has stopped.

The development comes days after DGCA stopped UAE airlines from chartering repatriation flights to India.

The DGCA’s decision has come as a huge disappointment for desperate expats who are trying every means possible to return to the UAE, and were shelling out up to Dh15,000 per ticket.

All charter flights were operating with the appropriate permissions and clearances for the specific mission, route and destination, said the charterers.

DC Aviation Al-Futtaim, the only integrated VIP handling and hangar facility in DWC, said in an official statement: "As a result of the DGCA suspension of flights into India, our Challenger 604 aircraft which was scheduled to land in Dubai today has been affected."

Afi Ahmed, managing director of Smart Travels, said he has received news from official sources that all approvals for operation of private jets have been barred until July 10.

"Even the flights that had been given approvals stand cancelled. Some flights organised on July 9 have also been grounded," said Ahmed, who was also stranded in Kochi, Kerala, till July 4 but returned home in the UAE on-board Global 6,000, the largest business jet, organised by a Dubai-based aviation company.

Ganesh Rayapudi, a UAE-based businessman who has been trying to organise flights from India to UAE, said: "The government has kept on hold all charters. At least 52 passengers were desperately waiting to come back from Hyderabad on these flights and were willing to collectively cough up Dh400,000."

He added: "I agree that it is unfair to those who cannot afford these prices. However, UAE residents have commitments here; they were tired of waiting and willing to go any lengths, including taking the expensive route."

On July 3, India's DGCA announced via an official circular that scheduled international flights will remain suspended till month-end and only those on a case-to-case basis will be allowed to operate. These flights were suspended on March 22 due to the ongoing pandemic.
