Mangaluru, Dec 21: A group of six protesters belonging to Communist Party of India (CPI), who defied curfew and staged protest in Mangaluru against police brutality that claimed lives of two persons during anti-CAA protests, were detained today.
Led by Kerala CPI leader and Rajya Sabha member Binoy Viswam, the protesters gathered at Lalbagh and started raising slogans against chief minister B S Yediyurappa, and the police for ruthless suppression of anti-CAA protests.
The protesters said that they will continue their fight against communal agendas of the Centre and Karnataka state government. “Police atrocity and firing cannot stop us,” they said.
Police rushed to the spot and detained them. CPI activists Jyothi K, Janardhana K S were among the detained.
