Mangaluru, Dec 13: Unidentified miscreants reportedly stole Rs 15 lakh from a car that was parked at Chilimbi near Ladyhill in the city today. The culprits broke open a window of the car in a busy public place in broad daylight and made away with the cash.
According to sources, a woman had come with Rs 20 lakh cash along with her to withdraw gold from South Indian Bank’s Chilimbi branch and parked her Hyundai Elite i20 near the bank.

According to the woman, she and her friends headed to the bank carrying only Rs 5 lakh and left remaining Rs 15 lakh in the car.
After they went inside the bank, two men who came in a two-wheeler and took the cash bag after breaking open the window and fled the spot.
It is learnt that a marriage function is scheduled to take place in the woman’s family next week and hence she had borrowed the amount from one of her relatives.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
