Mangaluru: St Agnes College holds workshop to prepare students to cope with modern life

Mangaluru, Feb 14: The Department of Commerce of St Agnes College, Mangaluru organized one day workshop “PERSONA-2019” on Thursday at the college campus. The workshop was organized with the purpose of preparing and training the students to cope with increasing pace and change of modern life in a constantly changing environment.
 
Mrs. Soujanya Hegde, the Chief Guest, Dr. Sr. Jeswina A.C. the Principal of the college, Mrs. Nimitha, the H.O.D of Commerce, Mrs. Sheryl P., the Dean of Commerce and Management, Staff coordinators Mrs. Vineetha and Ms. Mokshitha, Asst. Professors of Commerce, Ms. Naureen, the Vice-President of Commerce were the dignitaries during the inaugural.
 
The program started with a prayer song by Ms. Rishel and team of III B.Com to invoke the blessings of Lord Almighty. Mrs. Vineetha, the staff coordinator welcomed the Chief Guest.
 
The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest and the Principal with lighting of the lamp. While addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest said that we need to learn to love ourselves as it was a Valentine’s Day.
 
Ms. Naureen, the Vice-President, briefed about the various Technical sessions for the day. Ms. Falak Naz of III B.Com compered the program and Ms. Mokshitha S., Asst. Professor of Commerce proposed the vote of thanks for the morning’s inaugural function.
 
The Inter College workshop was concluded with a valedictory ceremony. Ms. Jean Cutinha of III B.Com compered the valedictory and Ms. Naureen of III B.Com proposed the vote of thanks. The program ended by singing the National Anthem.

Belthangady, Jun 26: Thieves broke into a house at Kalmanja village in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada during the wee hours on Friday and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 13 lakhs after tying the inmates of an areca merchant's house.

Police said the stolen valuables include 40 sovereigns gold, one kg silver and cash of Rs 25,000. The robbery took place in the house of Achyut Bhat who is an areca merchant in Ujire.

The house inmates opened the door after hearing dogs barking. Immediately the criminals, wearing masks, barged into the house and threatening to kill tied them before escaping with the booty.

Udupi, May 31: As many as 10 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district today. 

The district has registered a total of 187 positive cases so far. Majority of the positive cases in Udupi district have inter-state travel history to Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, 14 people including three children who recovered from COVID -19 discharged from Government Hospital in Kundapura, in Udupi district.

Kundapura AC Raju, DHO Dr Sudhirchandra Sooda, taluk medical officer Dr Nagabhushan Udupa handed over a rose to all the discharged. With this, a total of 64 persons have been recovered and discharged in the district.

Mangaluru, May 5: Even as the coastal city entered third phase of lockdown to contain the spread of covid-19, a wild bison was spotted in Mangaluru today. 

According to sources, local residents at Hathill area and Mannagudda area spotted bison. It is not sure whether it was the same bison or two different bison.

Some reports claimed that it was spotted in Kudroli area too triggering panic among people. 

With the help of local residents and police, the forest officials managed to catch the bison around noon. 

It is assumed that the wild animal must have come to the city as there was less movement of people and vehicle due to lockdown for past few weeks.
