Mangaluru: St Aloysius College hosts 137th annual athletics meet

Mangaluru, Dec 14: Department of Physical Education of St. Aloysius college organised 137th annual athletics meet on Thursday, 14th December at centenary ground. 

Ekalavya Awardee of 2003 Mr.Clifford Joshua who is presently the Assistant manager of Corporation bank was the chief guest of the function. The function was presided over by the rector of St.Aloysius Institutions Rev.Fr Dionysius Vas SJ.

Ishrar Pasha of 1st BBA who represented India in Powerlifting at commonwealth held at SouthAfrica and Prathiksha Shetty of 3rd BSC who was represented as Indian ambassador in International Cadet Exchange Programme 2017 were felicitated at the ceremony. 

The program started with the march past with students holding pluck cards highlighting social issues and urge for saving the mother earth.

Rev Fr Praveen Martis SJ welcomed the gathering. The meet was declared open by the chief Guest Mr.Clifford Joshua followed by the torch relay by the student conveners of sports Association. 

The events for the athletic meet were 800mts, shotput, 100mts, longjump, tug of war,  4*100mts relay for students and 50 mts for both teaching and non-teaching staffs. The winners of the day were awarded for their achievements.

Mangaluru: COVID-19 has disrupted the traditional academic year.  Due to the on-going pandemic situation and the financial crisis, the management of The Shepherds' International Academy, Mangalore (TSIA) has decided to reduce the annual school fees by 50% for the academic year 2020-21.

In a media release, TSIA correspondent stated that even though the school hasn't met the regular operating expenses, the management's decision is for the benefit of the communities.

The correspondent also informed that TSIA will start online classes  on receipt of the official nod from the Govt. Educational department.

The Department of Business Administration organised a Webinar on Career Planning and Development for the Under Graduate and PUC students of various colleges on 23 May 2020. Sr Dr Venissa A.C, Principal, inaugurated the programme and conveyed her best wishes. Mr Abhilash K, Managing Director of Abhijnya Education Private Limited was the Resource speaker.

Mr Abhilash said that a student should assess themselves, evaluate their career skills, set career goals in order to implement and maximise their career plan. He listed out the various courses available after completion of PUC/Degree. He also said that the students need to create their own future, assess their strengths, build personality and explore various options available to build their own career. He gave a few tips on how to prepare for the various competitive exams and manage time.

The Webinar had 125 participants from various colleges who actively participated by asking their doubts on Career Planning. The programme was conducted on Google Meet. Dr Neethu Suraj, Assistant Professor of BBA welcomed the Resource speaker and the participants, Mr Elson Dsouza Assistant Professor of BBA delivered the vote of thanks and Mrs Sabina Dsouza HOD of BBA coordinated the programme.
