Mangaluru, Nov 26: A woman from Mangaluru’s Vamanjoor locality, who had stranded in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after allegedly being duped by a local visa agent, finally returned home and reunited with her family on Sunday.

“I am grateful to the activists of India Social Forum (ISF). They helped me when I was in need. They treated me like own family members. I and my family cannot forget their help,” said 43-year-old Vijaya after she landed at Mangaluru International Airport on Sunday. Vijaya’s son, who is a PU student and activist of SDPI were present at the airport to welcome her.

Wife of Balappa Balakrishna, residing at Kelarai Kody in Vamajoor, Vijaya had left for the country on July 15, 2015 to work as housemaid in the oil-rich kingdom. The poor financial condition of her family had forced her to migrate to the Middle East. The local visa agent had promised her attractive salary and annual vacation.

However, when she decided to return home a few months ago, her sponsor, who had reportedly paid money to the agent, refused to return her passport and other documents. When the activists of Dakshina Kannada unit of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) came to know the issue through her family members, they passed the information to ISF workers, who not only approached the stranded woman but also lodged complaint with Indian embassy and Labour department in the Kingdom.

Vijaya’s sponsor had to handover all the documents to her last week following the intervention of the authorities of Indian embassy and Saudi labour department. She came to Mangaluru via Mumbai.

PFI and ISF are seen as villian only in RSS Channels . In reality they are helpful towards the society which are not portrayed to public by the channels controlled by the communal outfits.. As their reporters are sold out for petty cash which will give them enjoyment for few days.

Bengaluru, Jul 17: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday held a meeting with the Ministers-in-charge of eight zones to take stock of the COVID-19 situation and its management in Bengaluru.

Yediyurappa suggested that it should be ensured that both COVID-19 and other patients get timely treatment. He advised home quarantine for asymptomatic patients and hospitals and COVID Care Centers would provide treatment for those who are severely symptomatic.

He said, Rapid Antigen Testing should be carried out for those who died in the hospital, for immediate delivery of the corpse for funeral arrangements. He also said to conduct Rapid Antigen Test for those who have died at home and take action for the funeral of the dead.

The chief minister said, lockdown is not a solution to COVID-19 control, he made it clear that the government has no plans to continue with the lockdown in Bengaluru.

"To fill the shortage of doctors, the process of filling vacancies is ongoing," he said.

"Volunteers are identified and ambulances are assigned to each ward.  Strict action should be taken if private hospitals do not provide beds to patients," the Chief Minister said.

The chief minister said volunteers and nodal officers would be appointed to provide information on the enrollment and availability of beds to COVID-19 infected persons in private hospitals.

"Welfare pavilions and lodges have been identified in each ward, suggesting the use of quarters to quarantine those who do not have separate rooms," the Chief Minister said.

He said, allocate bed within two hours of the result of the test and the ambulance must take action to take the person to the hospital. The Chief Minister suggested that the system be decentralised, zoned, and monitored.

Mumbai, Apr 30: Rishi Kapoor, the romantic star of many a Bollywood film who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018, died in a Mumbai hospital on Thursday, his brother Randhir Kapoor said. He was 67.

Rishi, a third generation actor of the famous Kapoor dynasty, is survived by his wife Neetu Kapoor, actor son Ranbir and daughter Ridhima.

"He is no more. He has passed away," Randhir said.

Rishi was taken to the H N Reliance hospital by his family on Wednesday.

His death comes a day after after his "D-Day" co-star Irrfan Khan passed away, also of cancer. Three months ago, the disease claimed his sister Ritu Nanda.

"Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.

He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him, the family said in a statement.

Rishi returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for his cancer in the US for almost a year.

In February, he was hospitalised twice.

He was first admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he was attending a family function. At the time, he had said he was suffering from an "infection".

After his return to Mumbai, he was again admitted to a hospital with viral fever. He was discharged soon after.

Rishi made his first screen appearance as a child artiste in his father Raj Kapoor's film Shri 420 , where he appeared in the song Pyaar hua ekraar hua . This was followed by "Mera Naam Joker". But it was in 1973, with the blockbuster Bobby , again directed by his father, that he made his debut as a romantic hero. He continued to be a favourite romantic hero for almost three decades.

His notable films as a romantic hero are "Laila Majnu", "Rafoo Chakkar", "Karz", "Chandni", "Heena" and "Saagar".

He was, however, more proud of his second innings as an actor, which he found more satisfying. His notable films as a character artiste are "Do Dooni Chaar" with wife Neetu, "Agnipath" and "Kapoor & Sons".
