Manjeshwar, Oct 28: M C Kamaruddin, the newly elected MLA of Manjeshwar Assembly Constituency, today took oath in Kerala Rajbhavan in the name of Allah.
The Indian Union Muslim League leader, who went to Rajbhavan accompanied by his wife and other family members, took oath in Kannada.
A prominent figure in UDF, Kamaruddin was elected MLA in by-elections held on October 21, the results of which were announced on October 24.
Manjeshwar constituency was vacant after its sitting MLA PB Abdul Razzak passed away last year.
Kamaruddin defeated his closes rival Ravish Tantri of BJP by a margin of 7,923 votes while LDF candidate M Shankar Rai finished third.
Kamaruddin polled 65,407 votes whereas Tantri polled 57,484 votes. Rai bagged just 38,233 votes.
