Marriage hasn't affected my career: Kareena

Kareena careerKolkata, Aug 15: Married to actor Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor says she is happy that unlike other married actresses she is still signing films opposite top-notch commercial actors like Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn.

"I am getting the opportunity to work with Ajay and Salman and I don't think a lot of married actresses get that opportunity actually. They all get into the art zone space in films. They are still waiting for great scripts," Kapoor said in an interview here.

In 'Singham Returns' the 33-year-old romances Ajay Devgn while in Kabir Khan's upcoming film 'Bajrangi Bhaijan', the love story of a Muslim man and Brahmin woman, she is cast opposite superstar Salman Khan.

When asked whether marriage has affected her equity in the film industry she replied in the negative.

"Clearly not. Marriage just not comes in the way thankfully at least in my life. I am working with actors who can work with an 18-year-old girl. When Rohit Shetty approached me, he said I have written the role for you and I can't see anyone else doing those crazy things," she said, adding that she wants to have fun at this stage of her life.

Describing herself as a commercial actress, Kapoor, who has given hits like 'Jab We Met' and 'Golmaal 3', said she is also hearing scripts of content-based films.

"But I will not do a film only because the critics will love it. I do not need to prove my talent now," she said, adding that she is looking for performance-oriented roles because she wants to work for the next 25 years.

Following her natural instinct she has traversed genres with films like 'Chameli', 'Asoka', 'Heroine', etc and has never planned her career.

"I think I am the only actress who has not planned her career. People ask me what I want to do and I tell them that I just want to act in films which I would personally like to watch," Kapoor said.

She is not ashamed of doing song-and-dance roles in films.

Giving the example of Raj Kumar Hirani's '3 Idiots', she said the film had a strong underlining message but one cannot take out her 'zoobi doobi' song and dance in a wet sari.

"And then it becomes a package," she said.

"I am a very romantic person. I am still in the times of DDLJ. That is my personality. I also enjoy the song and dance but I don't like action too much, I am not doing so much of action," the actress said.

London, May 8: Actor Florence Pugh says the most terrifying aspect of starring in the upcoming superhero film "Black Widow" was doing the Russian accent.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe's stand-alone film, the Oscar-nominated actor plays Yelena Belova, a sister-figure to Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff/ the titular Black Widow who was trained in the Red Room.

"I was scared because my Russian accent was going to be out there and I didn't know what it sounded like.

"I'm also playing a character who no-one's seen before but they've read about her. I didn't know whether people were going to hate me!" Pugh told ELLE UK for its June issue.

The 24-year-old actor also said the idea of joining the MCU itself was quite "daunting".

"When you think of Marvel, it's big and daunting. Especially being a relatively small actor to look at it and go, 'Oh! I'm going to be a part of this', that's a big decision," she said.

"Black Widow", which was scheduled to hit the theatres on May 1, will now release on November 6 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Directed by Cate Shortland, the film also stars David Harbour and Rachel Weisz.

Mumbai, Jul 19: Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against two Instagram account holders for allegedly threatening actor Rhea Chakraborty, an official said on Sunday.

The location of the two accused is yet to be traced, the official said, adding that the investigation in the case is at primary stage.

Chakraborty on Thursday requested the cyber crime cell to look into the rape and murder threats she has been receiving ever since the death of close friend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rajput, 34, was found dead in his apartment in suburban Bandra here on June 14, leaving people in the film industry and audiences shocked.

Chakraborty, in particular, was subjected to online hate with users blaming her for Rajput's suicide.

"We registered the First Information Report (FIR) on Saturday under Indian Penal Code Sections 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication), 509 (intending to insult modesty of any woman) and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act," Santacruz police station's senior inspector Shriram Koregaonkar said.

"No arrest has been made so far. We are conducting an investigation in the case," he added.

On Thursday, sharing a screenshot of a hate message she received on Instagram, Chakraborty said while she had ignored many abusive texts sent to her in the past month, the harassment was now unbearable.

The 28-year-old actor eventually disabled the comments section of her Instagram page.

Chakraborty, known for films such as "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" and "Jalebi", had tagged the cyber cell and requested the authorities to look into the threats.

On June 18, she was called to the Bandra police station to record her statement in connection with Rajput's death.
