Kolar, Jan 11: A married woman was gangraped by three men near Dodavallabbi village of Kolar taluk on January 8. The prime suspect in the case is known to the victim.
The woman had come to stay with her uncle following a quarrel with her husband. On January 8, three men, one of them identified as Amar, came to the house of the victim and told her that her brother had collapsed after consuming liquor on the outskirts of the village. Believing their words, the woman went with them, police said.
The gang gagged the woman, tied her hands and legs and drove towards Chowdadenahalli in Kolar taluk where they gangraped her in the vehicle. They pushed the victim out of the vehicle at Kogilu Cross near Devanahalli, after snatching her mangalasutra. The victim filed a complaint on the same day with Yelahanka police. The Yelahanka police informed their Vemagal counterparts on January 9. Police said that prime suspect Amar was known to the victim.
SP Dr Divya Gopinath said all the three suspects were absconding.
