Belagavi, Apr 15: The next government, irrespective of its party, will have to construct the Ram temple at the land of Babri Masjid, according to Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Mutt.

Speaking to media persons here the sere said the temple and the mosque can co-exist at Ayodhya, but the mosque should be at a distance from the temple to avoid any dispute.

“I stand by my view that Ram mandir should be built at Ayodhya. However, it has to be done according to rules. The Parliament and Constitution are the ultimate authorities. I will not speak in detail as elections are under way,” he said.

“People will decide who will form the next government,” he said in response to a question.

The seer told presspersons at the Vidyarthi Bhavan in Tilakwadi that the Narendra Modi government had promised to build the temple, but could not do it in this term owing to some reasons. “Some parties and leaders like Mamata Banerjee and Mayawati have opposed it. The Congress has not clarified its stand on the issue. Moreover, the issue is in court. What can the Union government do now?,” he asked.

On the Lingayat issue, he said: “Lingayats are Hindus. All those who worship Lord Shiva are Hindus. The Lingayats and Veerashaivas should not be separate entities. They should not move away from Hinduism. Minister M.B. Patil may oppose this and say that I should not speak about issues concerning them. But is it wrong to speak out when our brothers want to separate from us?” he wondered.

He said he was planning to organise an Iftar dinner for Muslims in the Udupi mutt this year too.

The seer said that the Udupi Krishna Mutt had organised a series of religious and welfare programmes on the 5th Paryaya (alternative worship ritual).

The Ananda Teertha residential school and college will be set up in the birth place of Pajaka near Udupi. Education would be provided free of cost. Students will be taught the Hindu way of life and culture. Students of all communities are welcome, he said.

An education institution will be set up in Hubballi for the benefit of the people of north Karnataka. A hostel is being built in Maratha Halli near Bengaluru, he said.

Dear Sir,

Your comments are most welcome.

Babri Masjid was there in the same place and let it be there.  why dont you build a Mandir at a distance from the Masjid where it is located since years.

So far no evidence has been provided or collected by the court to provide the judgement in favor of Mandir.

Bengaluru, Jul 26: The government of Karnataka has urged the Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Adha in a simple manner and follow all guidelines amid mounting cases of covid-19.

The festival, also known as Bakrid, will be celebrated on July 31 in coastal districts of Karnataka and on August 1 in other parts of Karnataka.

In an order, A B Ibrahim, secretary of the department of minority welfare, Hajj and Waqf has prohibited offering Eid prayers in open grounds (Eidgahs) in the wake of pandemic.

Eid prayers can be offered in mosques by following all the necessary precautionary measures including maintaining physical distance. The congregation should not exceed 50 worshippers. If they number exceeds, they should be divided into three groups.

However, except for mosques, no other places should be used for offering congregational prayer.

Besides, all those who attend Eid prayers at mosque should compulsorily wear face masks. Entry is banned for people who are above the age of 60 years and below the age of 10. At least six feet distance needs to be maintained while offering prayer.

Thermal scanning needs to be done before entering the mosque. Hands need to be washed in soap or sanitizer. No one should touch the holy books in the mosque. Hand shaking and embracing to greet will also not be allowed. If any strangers are seen, their movement should be monitored.

Bengaluru, May 18: Over two months after his appointment as the Karnataka Congress President, DK Shivakumar is likely to take-over the reigns of the party officially on May 31.

"There are two dates, May 31 and June 7. He is most likely to officially take over as KPCC President on the 31st," sources close to Mr Shivakumar told PTI.

After remaining in a virtual vacuum for nearly three months, the party high command on March 11 appointed Mr Shivakumar, known to be the Congress' chief troubleshooter in crisis situations, replacing Dinesh Gundu Rao as KPCC chief.

Mr Rao had quit the post in December 2019 after the party's dismal show in the bypolls when it won only two of the 15 seats and yielded 12.

Congress sources said once the appointment letter came from the high command, he has been KPCC president and officially taking charge was just a formality.

"He will be officially handed over the party insignias and responsibilities relating to bank accounts and cheques, among other things, that has been traditionally followed," they said, adding the official take over was delayed by the coronavirus.

After his appointment as KPCC president, Mr Shivakumar has been meeting a host of senior party leaders and leading the party in the fight against coronavirus.

These include setting up of Congress' COVID-19 task force, alerting the government in its management of the crisis, holding weekly video conferencing with leaders of party's local units to gather information, among other things.

Sources close to Mr Shivakumar said the official take over would be a simple event, looking at the current situation due to the pandemic.

"Very few select party leaders and office bearers, say about 50 odd people, are likely to be in attendance at the simple event at KPCC office," they said, adding that arrangements may be made to telecast the event live for the benefit for party workers and local leaders.

A six-time MLA, Mr Shivakumar had a long wait for his appointment to the coveted post, due to opposition within. There were reports that Congress Legislature Party leader Siddarmaiah had lobbied in favour of one of his confidants for the top job.

In a first, appointment of three KPCC Working Presidents- Satish Jharkiholi, Saleem Ahammed and Eashwar Khandre, was seen as an attempt by those apposing Mr Shivakumar, to weaken his hold on the party.
