Mayank Gandhi accuses some party members of targeting him

March 7, 2015

New Delhi, Mar 7: AAP leader Mayank Gandhi today accused a "small group of party decision makers" of targeting him after he decried the decision to remove Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav from the Political Affairs Committee and said it could compel him to quit.Mayank Gandhi

He also said that a concerted effort was being made on the social media to portray him as "anti-party" and "anti-AK" (Arvind Kejriwal).

Gandhi said similar attempts were made to "humiliate" and oust Yadav and Bhushan from the party, but they overturned that plan by not quitting.

"A price may have to be paid. A small group of party decision makers in Delhi have already removed me from the informal BBM group. Attacks have begun against me from Ashish Khetan and others," he wrote in a blog defying a "gag order" imposed by the party.

The comments were made in a fresh blog by the AAP leader, who had abstained from voting in the National Executive meeting held on Wednesday.

Khetan had taken a jibe at Gandhi saying some people give interviews and write blogs while other work to create history.

"Some people give television interviews all through the day, while some work for the progress of Delhi and country. Some people write blogs, while some people write history," Khetan had tweeted.

Gandhi said that some disgruntled members of the party were trying to potray him as anti-party and anti-Kejriwal.

"Some dissatisfied members from Maharashtra have started giving interviews against me, some old cases are being re-opened. A concerted attempt is being made in social media to call me anti-party and anti-AK," he said.

The AAP leader from Maharashtra, who unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha polls from North-west Mumbai, said the party may decide not to fight BMC elections or delay the decision for the same, adding that leadership of Maharashtra will be challenged and discredited by some individuals and media leaks will be made.

"More will come and I will be finally humiliated so much that I will quit. That was what was planned for YY and PB, but they overturned that plan by staying inside the party. Let me see if I can withstand the muck that will be thrown," Gandhi said.

Gandhi claimed that he was neither rebelling against the party leadership nor seeking personal attention, but was seeking to uphold higher "principle of transparency"

He said volunteers need to propose to the NE about processes and systems on subjects of inner party democracy, volunteer management and communication, reconstitution of PAC and NE, code of conduct for volunteers and leaders, gender justice, conflict resolution mechanisms, policy stands on various subjects etc.

"In my next blog, I shall propose some concrete ideas on the principle of participation of volunteers in the working of the party and seek your ideas and suggestions," Gandhi added.

In a blog on Thursday, Gandhi expressed shock and slammed the "manner of and intention" in removing Bhushan and Yadav from the PAC.

He said he was shocked when Manish Sisodia introduced a proposal for removing Yadav and Bhushan despite the duo voluntarily offering to step down.

New Delhi, Jan 15: A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad in connection with the Daryaganj violence case.

The court has ordered him not to hold any protest in Delhi till February 16th.

While hearing the case, the Judge had asked Azad's counsel to read out some of his social media posts.

Advocate Mehmood Pracha, representing Azad, had on Tuesday said that the petitioner was sent to jail without any evidence in connection with anti-CAA protests in Delhi's Darya Ganj area last year.

"I think the court's comments should become a precedent for the country. The Public Prosecutor at the behest of police tried to make this a communal issue. We told the court that the government has a problem with Azad because he made the CAA-NPR-NRC an issue for everyone.
The Court also sought evidence," Pracha told ANI after Delhi's Tis Hazari court deferred the bail plea of Azad till today.

On Wednesday, the court pulled up the Delhi Police for failing to show any evidence against Azad.

Azad was arrested on December 21 last year after he led a march from Jama Masjid against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. He was sent to judicial custody till January 18 at Tihar jail.

The Bhim Army chief was charged with rioting, unlawful assembly and inciting the mob to indulge in violence after vandalism in Delhi's Daryaganj area.

New Delhi, May 15: Microsoft founder Bill Gates on Friday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the interaction and stressed that combating the coronavirus pandemic requires global collaboration.

"Thank you for the conversation and partnership PM Narendra Modi. Combating the pandemic requires global collaboration. India's role is key as the world works to minimize social and economic impact, and pave the way to vaccine, testing, and treatment access for all," Bill Gates said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday interacted with philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and discussed the global response to Covid-19 and the importance of global coordination on scientific innovation to combat the pandemic.

The Prime Minister underlined the conscious approach that India has adopted in its fight against the health crisis - an approach based on ensuring public engagement through appropriate messaging, a PMO release said.

He explained how this people-centric bottom-up approach has helped win acceptability for physical distancing, respect for frontline workers, wearing of masks, maintaining proper hygiene, and respecting lockdown provisions.

They agreed that given India's willingness and capacity to contribute to global efforts, particularly for benefit of fellow developing countries, it was important for India to be included in the ongoing global discussions for coordinating responses to the pandemic.

The Prime Minister also suggested that the Gates Foundation could take the lead in analyzing the necessary changes in lifestyles, economic organisation, social behaviour, modes of disseminating education and healthcare, that would emerge in the post-Covid world, and the associated technological challenges that would need to be addressed.

He said that India would be happy to contribute to such an analytical exercise based on its own experiences.
