Midnight joy ride claims life of radiologist in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Oct 22: A joy ride on his new bike turned fatal for a 21-year-old radiologist after he lost control and crashed into the traffic island at Windsor Manor bridge on Saturday.

The deceased, Sharan, was working in a private hospital in Marathahalli. According to the police, Sharan was residing in Hebbal.

The accident occurred around 1.45 a.m. when he was heading towards Ballari Road. The police said he was overspeeding.

As Sharan and the pillion rider, identified as Livingston, were not wearing helmets, they sustained severe head injuries. While Sharan was brought dead, Livingston is recovering, the police said.

Yavatmal, May 19: Four migrant workers were killed and 15 others were injured after a bus they were travelling in crashed into a truck in Yavatmal on Tuesday morning.

The bus was travelling from Solapur to Jharkhand. More details are currently awaited.

This comes amid nationwide COVID-19 lockdown has been extended to May 31, albeit with some relaxations.

Kochi, Mar 24: A 54-year-old domestic passenger was arrested at the airport here for allegedly refusing to follow instructions given by doctorsfor prevention of the spread of novel coronavirus, police said here on Tuesday.

Lami Arackal from Ernakulam, who landed from Chennai at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery on Monday night, was arrested based on a complaint from health officials, they said.

He was, however, later released on bail.

Arackal allegedly refused to wear mask and follow other instructions to be observed by the passengers coming from other states as part of the measures to check COVID-19 spread.

He also allegedly misbehaved with the medical officers, police said.

Nagpur, Apr 5: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Imambada area in Nagpur on Saturday due to financial distress, police said.

Nikhil Gavhane, who worked in a grocery shop, hanged himself as he had taken money from a person and was stressed over repayment, an official said.

"He was depressed since a week," the Imambada police station official said.
