Modi and I have same goals, want clean environment: Kajol

Mumbai, May 19: Actress Kajol says she and Prime Minister Narendra Modi share similar views and concerns when it comes to environment and maintaining hygiene.

kajolThe 41-year-old actress met Modi in Delhi to discuss Hindustan Unilever's Lifebuoy's 'Help A Child Reach 5' campaign as its brand ambassador.

Through the initiative, Kajol spreads the importance of good hand-washing habits around the world.

"He (Modi) has initiated Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and it coincides with our 'Help A Child Reach 5' initiative, so we thought of meeting and discussing things with him.

We are on a same page as our goals are same... We want a hygienic environment," Kajol said.

"He is the best person to give tips on it. The meeting went well as we discussed lot of interesting stuff. We want the mortality rate of children and people in the society to come down."

The "Fanaa" actress said the Prime Minister, who has been batting for clean environment through Centre's flagship Swachh Bharat campaign, lauded the initiative.

"He appreciated our work. He understood what we were trying to do. He understood that there is a need to give importance to hand washing to save life of children and people," Kajol said.

She revealed it was Modi, who gave the campaigners the idea to utilise mass media platform for the advertisements.

"Through our ad 'Haath Mooh aur Bum, Bimari Hogi Kum', we wanted to bring alive the message of hygiene in a fun and engaging manner. Clean surroundings and following good hygiene are two pre requisites to stay fit and healthy," Kajol said.

Every year millions of children fail to reach their fifth birthday because of diseases like diarrhoea and pneumonia and through 'Help A Child Reach 5' campaign, the team helps more and more children reach their fifth birthday.

Los Angeles, Feb 21: Nepalese-Australian actor Dichen Lachman has joined the cast of the third film in the Jurassic World franchise.

Lachman, best known for Netflix series Altered Carbon and TNT show Animal Kingdom, is the latest addition to the Colin Trevorrow-directed picture, reported Deadline.

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment project will see Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles. Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise are also part of the cast.

The movie marks the return of original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum.

Trevorrow has co-written the script of the new film with Emily Carmichael. He will also executive produce the film with Steven Spielberg.

Jurassic World 3 hits theatres on June 11, 2021.

Mumbai, Apr 14: Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has thanked Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for providing 25,000 personal protective equipment for health workers.

Khan on Monday provided the personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to the frontline medical staff in Maharashtra fighting to contain the novel coronavirus pandemic in the state.

Tope took to Twitter to thank the actor for the help.

Many thanks Mr. Shah Rukh Khan for your kind contribution of 25,000 PPE kits. This will go a long way in supporting our fight against COVID19 & protecting our frontline medical care team @iamsrk @MeerFoundation @CMOMaharashtra," he tweeted.

The actor and his wife Gauri Khan recently offered their four-storey personal office space for treating COVID-19 patients.

Khan had earlier announced various initiatives to help the country during the crisis.

Mumbai, May 10: Nearly a month after recovering from the coronavirus, actor Zoa Morani says she has donated her blood plasma to do her bit in helping the patients currently suffering from the novel virus. The actor, who was quarantined and kept under medication in April, also urged those who have recovered from COVID-19 to donate their plasma.

"Donated my blood today for the Plasma therapy trials at Nair hospital. It was fascinating! Always a silver lining I suppose. The team there was so enthusiastic and careful. There was a general physician on standby just incase of emergency and the equipment brand new and safe (sic)," Zoa wrote on Instagram on Saturday.

She thanked the doctors for taking care of her and hoped patients benefit from the donation.

"All #Covid19 recovered people can be a part of this trial, to help others covid patients recover! I hope this works #IndiaFightsCorona. They even gave me a certificate and Rs 500. Wont lie, I felt super cool today (sic)," she added.

Zoa, along with her sister Shaza and father, producer Karim Morani had tested positive for coronavirus in April. All three were discharged from the hospital after testing negative last month.
