Udupi, Jun 12: BJP leader and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has claimed that the welfare programmes launched by the prime minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the centre has reached all communities and development has reached all the villages in the country.

Speaking to media persons here yesterday, Mr Kateel said that the country had seen rapid progress in the last four years of Modi government. “Even U.S. President Donald Trump has acknowledged that India was an economic power to reckon with. The country had seen about 7 % growth in GDP. Mr. Modi had given corruption-free governance during this period. The military prowess of the country could be gauged by the fact that it had conducted cross-border military strikes. Yet, at the same time, the country’s relations with other nations had improved,” he said.

The BJP was now in power in over 20 States in the country. It had provided electricity supply to 18,000 villages under the Deen Dayal Electrification Scheme. To give a push to cleanliness and sanitation in the country, 7.5 crore toilets have been constructed under the Swachh Bharat scheme, he said.

Nearly 3.8 crore people have been provided with LPG cylinders under Ujwala scheme. The government has given loans to 10 crore youth under the Mudra scheme so that they could become self-employed. The government was also providing training in skill development to the youth so that their chances of getting employed increased, he said.

Nearly 31.6 crore people in the country had been brought under banking network through the Jan Dhan Yojana. Optical Fibre Cables had been drawn to all villages so that there was better connectivity in the country, he said.

About 2.5 crore poor people have been provided with housing in the country in the last four years under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana. To provide healthcare facilities to the poor people, the government had started the Ayushman Bharat scheme, he said.

Jan 28: Hindu temple processions with an elephant adorned in ornaments carrying the idol, with percussionists and devotees walking side by side, are no new sight in Kerala. However, a similar procession in Kerala's cultural capital, Thrissur, turned heads. Hundreds of Muslims were seen holding hands and clearing traffic to help the procession move smoothly.

Muslims made way for the passage of a Hindu temple procession during their protest against Citizenship Amendment Act(ACT) in Thrissur on Saturday, January 25.

Various Muslim organisations had organised a mass protest in the Swaraj ground in the town. On the same day, the local Bhaktapriyam temple's procession was also taking place. Stuck in a dilemma, the temple authorities approached the police and the Muslim organisations to find a solution. The Muslim organisations then promised to help proceed the temple procession without any obstacles.

Nearly a thousand people who had turned up for the protest volunteered to clear traffic and control the crowd so that the temple procession could smoothly pass through the town.

A video of the procession was shared on Facebook by the Thrissur City Police on Saturday, which showed Muslims holding hands on either side of the procession to make way.

"Humanity is bigger than religion. That's the lesson the residents of Thrissur are giving to the country. Thrissur is truly the cultural capital of Kerala," read the caption of the post in Malayalam. The video soon went viral and was viewed by over 36k views.

Tumakuru, Feb 5: Former Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde has questioned the integrity of the B S Yediyurappa led BJP government as it has not taken an action to abolish the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to re-establish the Lokayukta in Karnataka.

Speaking after felicitating the retired scientist of NASA Gopal Iyengar at the Karnataka Public School at Kadaba in Gubbi taluk he reminded that the BJP had promised to establish the Lokayukta.

"No party will like to strengthen the Lokayukta and now BSY is also tightlipped and even put an end by appreciating that ACB has been doing a good job", he regretted.

In fact, the Lokayakuta had the power to prosecute even the top brass of officials and now the ACB cannot without the government's permission, he clarified.

He denied any remarks on the CAA and NRC but observed that the youths of the country have been misguided by the politicians as they lost their focus on education by involving in protest rallies.

"I suggest they to straight away take a political plunge instead of getting misused at the hands of the politicians with selfish motives", he said.
