Bengaluru, May 19: In a major development in the political scenario in the state, Mohammed Haris Nalapad has emerged victorious in the youth congress elections held in the city. Mohammed secured the highest number of votes among all the candidates contesting for the post of the General Secretary of youth congress in Bangalore city. Mohammed Haris Nalapad is the Executive Director of the Nalapad Group of Companies. The results of the election were declared at around 3am at the congress Bhavan at Race Course Road.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mohammed Haris Nalapad said “I am honored and at the same time humbled to have won with a majority number of votes. I consider this as an opportunity to work harder for the betterment of the party. Congress is a party of the people, by the people and for the people. I promise to discharge my duties fearlessly and impartially to the best of my ability”

He futher added “I would also like to congratulate all the other office bearers who have been selected. Together we will strive for the development of congress and the people of Bangalore”

Mohammed Haris Nalapad is an entrepreneur and social worker who have actively involved himself in social work and party activities. Drawing inspiration from his father, N A Haris, MLA of Shantinagar constituency, Mohammed has been seen alongside him during his public visits and social outreach programs. Mohammed Haris Nalapad is well known for his philanthropic work, soft spoken nature and communication skills.

Mohammed Haris Nalapad has studied hospitality management from the prestigious Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management in UAE and is also the brain behind the Nalapad Academy which was inaugurated earlier this year. Mohammed is also a crusader against drugs and constantly engages himself interacting with the youth in colleges and spreading awareness against consumption of drugs.

Among other office bearers, Raghuveer Gowda was elected as the president of Youth Congress – Bangalore City and Rakshit Shivram and Sowmya Reddy were elected as the vice presidents of the Bangalore City Youth Congress

Bengaluru, Jul 10: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday visited the COVID Care Centre established in Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) and inspected the facilities there.

"The State Government is making all efforts to contain the rapid surge of cases of COVID-19 in Bengaluru. I have visited the COVID Care Centre established at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre and inspected the facilities. The COVID Care Centre will have a capacity of 10,100 beds and has all necessary facilities," he said while interacting with media persons.

"For every 100 patients, one doctor, two nurses, one support staff, one housekeeping staff and two BBMP Marshals will be deployed. 2,200 staff including doctors, nurses, support staff, housekeeping staff, BBMP marshals and police will be deputed. The patients will be provided with good quality food. Recreation facilities such as TV, Carrom Boards, chess boards etc are also being provided," he added.

The Chief Minister said that safety kits for the staff who are involved in patients' care and monitoring, emergency treatment facilities, ICU, ECG, oxygen support, first aid and pharmacy facilities will be provided.

"In addition, a control room will be established to monitor them 24 hours and this Centre will have tie up with nearby hospitals. Laundry facility will be provided to wash the blankets and bedsheets of the patients. Segregation and disposal of waste will be done systematically. The centre will take care of people who are asymptomatic and persons who are mildly infected. This system is established to enhance the availability of beds and treatment in hospitals for those who are in critical condition," he said.

Yediyurappa said that number of coronavirus cases in the state increased since the beginning of the unlock process and underlined that the State Government is taking all measures to combat the disease.

"We have rectified all the loopholes immediately, as and when they are brought to our notice. The centralized bed allocation system is already in place and helpline is also established. People must not lose hope and I appeal to the citizens to co-operate with us. If there is a delay in the arrival of the ambulance as soon as the reports confirm the disease or if there is denial to admit the patients to the hospitals, please bring it to our notice and action will be taken," he said.

The Chief Minister appealed to all legislators to give priority to control the disease in their constituencies.

"Please visit taluk hospitals and COVID hospitals and inspect if all required facilities are in place. If there is any lacunae bring it to my notice, it will be rectified," he said.

He also requested people from Bangalore not to travel to their villages unnecessarily.

Mangaluru, June 14: The management of Barakah International School and College has announced to waive off 33% of tuition fee in order to lessen the burden on parents who are undergoing financial crisis due to covid lockdown. 

This decision was taken after a series of virtual meetings with the Managing Director, Academic Director, Principal, Manager and PRO.

“While the school needs to continue to meet all the commitments and responsibilities towards the staff salaries, software, networking, etc, we fully understand that in the prevailing circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, job loss, reduction in salaries, general hardships of the self-employed businesses and the slowdown in the economy,” sated a release issued by the school.

“We would support our parent fraternity pro-actively and at the same time continue to meet the high-quality standards of our teaching- learning process and infrastructure so it has been decided that 1/3 of the tuition fee to be waived off for 2020-21,” the release said.
