Moodbidri: Another Alva’s College girl found dead in hostel room

Moodbidri, Sep 12: Yet another student of Moodbidri’s prestigious Alva’s College has allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased has been identified as Vinutha R (17 or 18 years), daughter of Ramachandra, a native of Bengaluru.

She was a second year PUC student n science stream. According to sources she was a bright student and had secured around 98 per cent in first PUC.

Her body was found hanging in her room on Wednesday morning. The reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Moodbidri police have registered a case and launched an investigation. 

In recent years, several such alleged suicide cases have been reported from the hostels of Alva’s College.

Mysuru, Jan 22: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Wednesday urged the state government to initiate an unbiased investigation into the Mangaluru airport bomb case.

Addressing media persons here, he said, “The incident has created panic among the public and such incidents are being repeated due to the failure of intelligence agencies of the state”.

On accused Aditya Rao, the suspect in the case, who surrendered before Bengaluru police on Wednesday morning, the senior Congress leader said, “I have not yet gathered complete information about the accused in the case, therefore I would not like to comment about him.”

Bengaluru, Jun 28: Novel coronavirus has claimed another police officer's life here, official sources said on Sunday.

According to official sources, the deceased police officer attached to station in Whitefield division had collapsed in his home on Saturday.

The 57-year-old Police officer, working as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) who was diagnosed with COVID-19 infection, also reportedly suffered from breathing related problems, the sources said.

Bengaluru, May 6: Resolving the disparity in payment of stipend to the Resident Doctors across Karnataka, Minister for Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar on Tuesday directed the Medical Education Department to consider the request made by the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) to increase the stipend.

Holding a video conference meeting with the department officials and Vice-Chancellor of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), the Minister instructed the officials to look into the request and submit a detailed proposal pertaining to the increase of stipend.

The Karnataka Resident Doctors Association had submitted a request seeking a hike in the stipend which is due since 2015.
