Los Angeles, Jun 19: 'Black Panther' roared at this year's MTV Movie and TV Awards as the film went on to bag top honours, including Best Movie, while 'Stranger Things' was adjudged the Best Show at the ceremony.

The Ryan Coogler-directed film also won three other big awards - including 'Best Performance in a Movie' and 'Best Hero' for Chadwick Boseman's performance as 'T'Challa/ Black Panther'. Micheal B Jordan's portrayal as Erik Killmonger in the film won him the title of 'Best Villain'.

The 'Best Movie' award was presented by Lady Gaga, who made a surprise appearance at the show. She then announced the award would go to 'Black Panther'.

Boseman, Jordan and Winston Duke (M'Baku) came on to the stage to accept the award.

"Thank you all for investing in not just a beautiful story, but investing in a continued conversation in what this industry and what this culture could achieve - and what we all can aspire to be," Duke said.

Boseman dedicated his 'Best Hero' award to real-life "true hero", James Shaw Jr, an American man known for disarming a gunman during the Nashville Waffle House shooting in Antioch, Tennessee and saving lives.

With three trophies, 'Stranger Things' emerged the second biggest winner.

Actor Millie Bobby Brown from the Netflix series won the award for Best Performance in a Show. Her co-star Noah Schnapp scored the win for the Most Frightened Performance.

Brown, who could not attend the show due to a broken kneecap, addressed the audience through a pre-taped video message in which she made a powerful speech against bullying.

"I was taught, if you don't have anything nice to say, just don't say it. There should be no space in this world for bullying, and I'm not going to tolerate it and neither should any you. If you need a reminder of how well you are and to rise above the hate, message me on Instagram," she said.

The actor's remarks come days after she quit social media due to online bullying.

For a second consecutive year, both categories were gender-neutral.

The Best Fight win was scored by 'Wonder Woman' for the scene in which Gal Gadot's 'Wonder Woman' faces off against German soldiers in the battlefield.

Lady Gaga's 'Gaga: Five Foot Two' won the laurel for the Best Music Documentary.

"I love you little monsters so much! And, Happy Pride Month! I just have one problem, I recently found out that I am actually five-foot-three and three quarters … I am so, so sorry, but thank you so much," she said in her acceptance speech.

'Master of None' co-writer-actor Lena Waithe accepted the Trailblazer Award, who dedicated the honour to the 1990 documentary 'Paris Is Burning" that introduced her to trailblazers such as Pepper LaBeija, Dorian Corey, Angie Xtravaganza and Willi Ninja.

"Avengers: Infinity War" star Chris Pratt received the Generation Award and spoke to the next generation as their 'elder' and then went on to offer his 'Nine Rules from Chris Pratt, Generation Award Winner'.

The show was hosted by Tiffany Haddish, who made history by becoming the first African American to have headlined the event. She also took home the prize for Best Comedic Performance for 'Girls Trip'.

The cast of 'It' received the award for Best Onscreen Team.

Madelaine Petsch from 'Riverdale' bagged the Scene Stealer award for her portrayal as Cheryl Blossom in the show.

The 'Best Kiss' award was shared by Nick Robinson and Keiynan Lonsdale for 'Love, Simon' film. 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' was adjudged the Best Reality Series/Franchise and mother-daughter duo Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian were present to collect the award.

Mumbai,  Aug 7: Unless Maharashtra Government consents to CBI investigation in the Sushant Singh Rajput's death case, it would be illegal, affecting the federal structure of the country, said actor Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered and continued the illegality which was perpetrated at the hands of Bihar Police in connection with the case, he added.

"The Bihar Government transferred a case with which it had no jurisdiction to investigate, to CBI instead of the Mumbai Police which is the legal position. The Supreme Court is seized of the issue pursuant to the transfer petition filed by Rhea Chakraborty," said Satish Maneshinde Chakraborty's lawyer.

The Supreme Court has directed all parties to file their replies and Mumbai Police is directed to place the report of investigations, he added.

"Pending the said proceedings the CBI has registered and continued the illegality which was perpetrated at the hands of Bihar Police.

CBI being a premier investigative agency in the country should desist from taking any further steps pending the SC proceedings. Apart from the same unless the Maharashtra Government consents to CBI investigating the case ... it would be totally illegal and beyond any known legal principles, affecting the Federal Structure of the Nation," said Maneshinde.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI that is probing high profile cases of Vijay Mallya and AgustaWestland cases will now investigate the Sushant Singh Rajput's death case.

The investigating agency has registered a case against six accused including Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty and others in connection with the Rajput's death.

The sources in CBI said that six accused in the case will be summoned soon for questioning and other persons will also be called for examining which was earlier examined by Mumbai police.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had earlier sent a recommendation to the Central Government for CBI investigation in the case filed in Patna based on the complaint of Sushant's father KK Singh against Rhea Chakraborty under sections including abetment of suicide on July 25.

Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14.

Days after Rajput's death, Rhea Chakraborty said she was the "girlfriend" of the 'Dil Bechara' actor while requesting a CBI inquiry in the case.

Chakraborty has also approached the Supreme Court for transfer of investigation to Mumbai in the FIR registered against her in Patna.

With an aim to honour the legacy of the actor, the streaming platform is making the movie available to even the non-subscribers.

Rajput was found dead at his Bandra home on June 14 at the age of 34.

Billed as a soulful love story, “Dil Bechara” marks the directorial debut of casting director and Rajput's industry friend Mukesh Chhabra. The film is produced by Fox Star Studios.

“We are humbled to be able to play a small part in sustaining the legacy of a fine actor like Sushant Singh Rajput. In celebration of his life and his extraordinary work, 'Dil Bechara' will release directly on digital this July on Disney+ Hotstar; and will be available to all subscribers and non-subscribers across India. Our prayers and wishes to his family and loved ones,” Uday Shankar, President – The Walt Disney Company APAC and Chairman, Star & Disney India, said.

The actor had a long-standing relationship with the STAR & Disney India network, having started his career with the show “Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil” in 2008 to his Bollywood transition where he delivered some of his most memorable performances in “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story” (2016) and “Chhichhore” (2019), both produced by Fox Star Studios.

Chhabra said he never imagined he would release the film without Rajput.

“Sushant was not just the hero of my debut film as a director, but he was a dear friend who stood by me through thick and thin. We had been close right from 'Kai Po Che!' to 'Dil Bechara'. He had promised me that he would be in my first film.

"So many plans were made together, so many dreams were dreamt together but never once did I ever imagine that I would be left alone to release this film. He always showered immense love on me while I was making it and his love will guide us as we release it,” the director said.

“Dil Bechara” is the official remake of 2014 Hollywood romantic drama “The Fault in our Stars”, which was based on John Green’s popular novel of the same name. The Hindi adaptation of the movie was done by Shashank Khaitan and Suprotim Sengupta.

“Dil Bechara” will see Rajput in a leading role alongside debutante Sanjana Sanghi, and Saif Ali Khan in an interesting cameo.

The music of the film has been composed by AR Rahman and the lyrics are by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

“Dil Bechara” revolves around Kizie Basu (Sanghi) and Immanuel Rajkumar Junior or Manny (Rajput) and explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic adventure of being alive and in love.

Together Kizie and Manny embark on an on-off-up-down-sad and sweet profound journey into the heart of that crazy little thing called life. It teaches them what it means to feel truly alive and fall in love.
