Muscat: Activists from Karnataka hold ‘Bandhavya-2016’ get-together

Muscat: ‘Bandhavya-2016’, a get-together of Indian expats, was conducted by Karnataka bothers on Friday, March 25, at Barka farm house under the auspices of Social Forum Muscat, Oman.

Traditional ‘Goodangadi’, ‘Charmuri stall’, ‘Thatti hotel’, Omlet shop were put up to cherish childhood memories. Apart from these, a buffet dinner was arranged. The food was cooked and served by the members of the Forum inside the farm house compound. An Indian village atmosphere was prevalent throughout the programme.

The programme included games for children, fun games for men and women, sports, quiz competition etc. Stage skit, duff etc. added to the coastal Karnataka’s flavor.

Chief guest Mr. Aslam Hassan, the Karnataka State Committee member of Social Democratic Party of India, lauded the dedication and efforts of the members of Social Forum.

President of the Social Forum, Muscat, Mr. Anwar Moodbidre briefly explained the Forum’s works including financial and legal assistance rendered to the needy people.

Social Forum Oman National President Mr. Hameed Panemangalore, President of Indian Pravasi Forum Mr.Yusuf Hyder Mukka, State Vice President of Social Forum Janab Mohidin Saheb Sastan were present. Prizes were distributed to the winners.

Mr. Ansar Katipalla led the programme and Mr. Noor Muhammed Padubidre welcomed the guests.

Riyadh, Feb 24: Indian Islahi Center, Riyadh (IICR) kicked off the propagation campaign of "Learn the Quran" national conference, which is slated to be held on March 27, 2020 at Nofa Istiraha, Exit 18, Riyadh, Kingdom Saudi Arabia. It's IICR's 20th successful program.

Kerala Legislative Assembly's opposition leader & Congress leader, Ramesh Chennitthala inaugurated the campaign that was held at Voco Hotel in Riyadh, capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ramesh was on two days visit in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The objective of the campaign is to instil the keenness & to keep creating the continuous awareness amongst the community on Quran. It also enables to recite the Quran with Tajweed (science of reading the Quran) & correct form.

Aboobakker Edthanatukkara (President of IICR), Abdul Qayyum Bustani, Kunhi Kumbala, Abdullah Vallanchira, Adv. Abdul Jaleel, Naushad Ali Kozhikode, Mujeeb Ali Thodigappulam, Muhammad Kutty Kadannamanna, Fasal Rahman City Flower, Mujeeb Irumbuzhi, Jaleel Alappuzha, Arafat & others were present on the occasion.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
