Mysore Royals ANIB XI to clash with Autotech Moodbidri for the KPCL season 2 title

Dubai, Feb 9: The Aeroskop Karnataka Premier Cricket League (KPCL) continued to present plenty of upsets and surprises as the tournament progressed into the fourth and fifth week. Mysore Royals ANIB XI on Top breezed through all oppositions to book their berth for the finals. Defending Champions Autotech Moodbidri qualified being the other finalists on better NRR (Net Run Rate) as they were tied on points with Prince XI Padubidri and Spider Kundapura after the league games.

Tournament organizer and Karnataka Premier Cricket League Chairman Thomson D’Silva said that season 2 of the KPCL had reinforced the spectacular success of the previous season. “We are delighted and honored to have Shri Syed Kirmani as our chief guest at Aeroskop KPCL Season 2 finals. Shri Syed Kirmani is not only an inspiration to cricketers but to all sportspeople for his talent, personality and commitment to the game and society,” he pointed out.

The finals of the tournament will be played on 6 PM, February 12th February 2015 at Ajman Oval Grounds and the well-known former Indian wicket-keeper “Padma Shri” Syed M. H. Kirmani will be the Chief Guest, who played for Karnataka in domestic cricket. Kirmani played for India from 1971 to 1986 and was also adjudged as the best wicket-keeper during the 1983 Prudential World Cup.

Match 6: Spider Kundapura Vs Coastal Cricket Club Mangalore (29th January 2016)

Spiders Kundapura electing to bat were off to a good start with top order batsman Santosh 45 (33 balls) and Rohan 19 (16 balls), however were rocked by fine bowling from Rakshith (4-23) to end up 139 for 9 in 20 overs. Chasing the target Coastal Cricket club, Mangaglore were off to a good start with Sujan 26 (22 balls) and Praveen 18 (12 balls) laying a good foundation. Prajakat Chauhan (3-26), Santosh Kotian (2-18), Nelson Pinto (2-21) rocked the middle order of Coastal Club falling short of 16 runs of the target. A late surge by Shibith 27 (13 balls) was not able to help his team from reaching the target.

Match 7: Autotech Moodbidri Vs Mysore Royals ANIB XI on Top (29th January 2016)

Electing to bat after winning the toss, Autotech Moodbidri were rocked by disciplined bowling by Zahoor (4-14) & Ramveer Rai (2-20) ended up with a modest 122 all out in 20 overs with contributions from Prashanth (21), Krishna (29) and Sadiq (30). Chasing a modes total of 122 ANIB XI on Top were provided with a solid start by skipper Mahesh Shetty 58 (45 balls) and Renjith Mani 35 (36 balls) to win by 8 wickets.

Autotech Moodbidri: 122 All out in 20 overs. Prashanth 21(19 balls), Krishna Chandran 29(42 balls), Sadiq 30(27 balls). Zahoor Farooqui (4-14), Ramveer Rai (2-30).

Mysore Royals ANIB XI on Top after winning the toss, went on a rampage against the Coastal Cricket Club bowlers scoring 264 for 1 in 20 overs. Openers Renjith Mani (151 not out) was in his destructive best with 19 hits to the fence. He was well support by Mahesh Shetty who missed the century by a run off the last ball. Chasing a Huge target Coastal Cricket club was never in the reckoning of the rising run rate and ended up on 114 in 20 overs. Parvez Ahmed 51(50 balls) held the innings but was not sufficient to overhaul the huge target set up by ANIB XI on Top. Man of the Match Renjith Mani (2-10) and Zahoor Farooqui (2-14) were the successful bowlers for ANIB XI on Top.

Match 9: Autotech Moodbidri Vs Coastal Cricket Club, Mangalore (05th February 2016)

Coastal Cricket Club elected to bat after winning the toss ended up at 118 all out in 20 overs thanks to devastating spell from veterans Prashanth Braggs (4-18) and Sharan Pinto (2-16). Asim (20) and Varun (22) were the top scorers for Coastal Cricket Club. Chasing the target, Zia Quazi went on rampage with his 63 (29 balls) belting bowlers all around the park. Autotech Moodbidri reached the target in 12.5 overs. Prashanth Braggs was named Man of the Match for his bowling performance.

Match 10: Prince XI Padubidri Vs Spiders Kundapura.

Prince XI Padubidri elected to bat after winning the toss were rocked initially by Nelson Pinto (4-26) however recovered due to the late surge by Girish Acharya 47(30 balls) and well supported by Ajith Rao (25) and Gopakumar (20). Prashanth Shetty (2-17) and Surya Kumar (2-29) were the other successful bowlers for Spiders Kundapura. Chasing a competitive target, Spider Kundapura began very well thanks to a fine partnership from Prajakat Chauhan 58 (41 balls) and Sudhesh 40 (38 balls) for the 2nd wicket, managed to surpass the Prince XI target in 19.2 overs. Gopakumar (1-14), Laxman S (1-25), Anfal (1-21), Mohd. Shafi (1-25) could not prevent Spider’s from reaching the target. Nelson pinto was awarded the Man of the Match for his bowling performance.

In a humanitarian gesture to help fellow citizens in distress, the first in the series of chartered 
flights arranged by Thumbay Group, UAE and the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) Trust, 
Mangalore to repatriate stranded Kannadigas in the UAE took off from Ras Al Khaimah 
International Airport in the wee hours of 21st July 2020. The flight was fully occupied, with 186 passengers, all of them desperate to fly back to India for various reasons.

The initiative was conceived and implemented under the leadership of Dr. Thumbay Moideen - Founder President of Thumbay Group & Founder Patron of BCF and Dr. B K Yusuf, the 
President of BCF. The flight was organized on a purely charitable basis, with all necessary 
steps and precautions in place to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. Thumbay Group assigned its fleet of buses to transport the passengers free of charge from their residences in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman to the airport. The organizers also provided free meals and refreshments to the passengers, in addition to PPE kits and face-shields distributed free of 
charges.

The passengers on the first flight included many elderly individuals, people with serious 
illnesses like heart-related health issues and diabetes, pregnant ladies and little children as well as people who had lost their jobs and those with expired visas. Dr. B K Yusuf – BCF President, Dr. Kaup Mohammed - BCF General Secretary, other office bearers of BCF, as well as Thumbay Group’s representatives Mr. Farhad C – Director of the Hospitality Division of 
Thumbay Group and Engr. Farwaz P. C. – COO of the Construction Division were present at 
the airport to see off the first group of passengers.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Thumbay Moideen said, “This joint initiative of Thumbay 
Group and BCF is to support our fellow Kannadigas desperate to fly back home. We are happy that we have been able to reach out to many of them, to help them fly home to their families. We thank the Governments of the UAE and India, and the Indian Consulate, Dubai, for their support in making this happen. In the coming days, many more stranded Kannadigas would be repatriated under this joint initiative.”
Dr. B K Yusuf thanked Dr. Thumbay Moideen and the office-bearers and members of BCF for 
their efforts to make the initiative a success.

“We are proud that this initiative has brought relief to many Kannadigas and their families today. BCF is grateful to Thumbay Group for its support and partnership for all our humanitarian programs for the support of the needy.”

Dr. Kaup Mohammed said that it was a matter of pride that the much-awaited Thumbay-BCF 
repatriation flight had been carried out successfully. “Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers throughout the journey,” he said. He also thanked all the social organizations including Bhatkal Jamath, BCCI, BWF, KCF, DKSC, Kodagu Kannadigas, 
Kannadiga Help Line, Dubai Konkans and KSS, for their support. He specially thanked Mr. 
Syed Hassan Razeen, the owner of ARISTOCRAT Travels for his support in the ticketing, 
boarding and related processes. On behalf of Milano Optics Group and Maxcare, free gift 
hampers were distributed to selected passengers.

The passengers were received at Mangalore airport under the leadership of Mr. Mumtaz Ali - patron of BCF and other distinguished personalities of Mangalore including Mr. Moidin Bava - former MLA, Mr U. T. Ifthikhar, Mr. S. M. R Rashid - President of BCCI central committee and many others. The passengers were transferred to the hotels where they had registered for the mandatory quarantine.

The second flight under this joint initiative is scheduled to take-off from Ras Al Khaimah airport to Mangalore on 24th July 2020. A few more similar repatriation flights are to soon follow, in the coming weeks.

Jeddah: The first chartered flight for repatriation passengers from Jeddah to Bengaluru organized by Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah – Saudi Arabia was successfully landed at Bengaluru airport by 01.00 am on 19th July 2020.

Spice Jet (SG9884) departed from King Abdul Aziz International Airport Jeddah by 05.00 pm local time with 177 stranded passengers which includes 12 Pregnant Woman, 3 infants, 44 Short term visa holders, 3 medical emergency patients and 115 migrate workers and labours from various districts of Karnataka state.

Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah, a registered charitable organization under Government of Karnataka & Indian Consulate Jeddah - Saudi Arabia, helping the Kannadigas overseas & in Karnataka State as well, has initiated major role for helping stranded Kannadigas to travel back to home. During Pandemic hundreds of stranded Kannadigas were approached to the forum and requested to arrange special chartered flight to Bengaluru from Jeddah.

Initiating from collecting the data of passengers, the forum’s special panel including its President Mr. Mohammed Mansoor, Secretary Mr. Peter Mascarenes, Vice Presidents Mr. Nasir Khurshid, Dr.Ashfaque Maniyar, Chief Coordinator Mr. Shaikh Saoud, Cultural Secretaries Mr. Arifulla Shariff and Mr. Rajesh Suvarna, Treasurer Mr. Habib Rahman and Press Secretary Mr. Baig, the forum’s members have worked very hard to conclude this task very successful. 

The forum provided food packets as refreshment, complementary PPE kitsto each passenger as precaution against the spread of any infections while travelling and also guided all passengers by supporting them in Awdha portal (Saudi Passport Department) and Seva Sindhu portal registration of Government of Karnataka.

The official travel partner ITL Travel Management Company has rendered remarkable service to the passengers not only in ticketing but also supported with top priority in confirming the aircraft from SPICE JET and availed good service from ground staff at Jeddah Airport. 

All passengers have reached safely to their homes after completing the 7 days institutional quarantine at Bengaluru. 100% passengers had NEGETIVE report on Covid-19 test made on arrival as well as after institutional quarantine. 

In the press release published from the President, Mr. Mohammed Mansoor has expressed his prodigious gratitude to the Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia H. E. Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Deputy Consul General of India - Jeddah Mr. Y Saber and Chief Minister of Karnataka State Shri B. S. Yediyurappafor providing necessary approvals and NOC for the chartered flight operation. He also conveyed his boundless appreciationto Shri B. Y. Raghavendra, Member of Parliament Shimoga District (Karnataka) for his swift support extended to the forum and as well to Dr. Aarathi Krishna, Ex-Deputy Chairperson – NRI Forum of Karnataka – Government of Karnataka for her significant guidance and support on completing this mission.

The forum has thanked all the officers in King Abdul Aziz International Airport Jeddah and Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru for the facilities provided to the passengers. Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.
