Mysuru: Illegal' madrasa claimed BJP worker's life, alleges MP Pratap Simha

March 15, 2016

Mysuru, Mar 15: Member of Parliament from Mysuru and Kodagu Prathap Simha, on Monday, said, the State government and district administration should be held responsible for the murder of Raju, near a tea shop on MG Road in Udayagiri by three bike-borne assailants, on Sunday evening.

MP Pratap Simha, MLA CT Ravi and others on Monday consoling the family members of Raju, a BJP worker who was hacked to death on Sunday, at Kyathamaranahalli  in Mysuru

After a meeting with Deputy Commissioner C?Shikha and City Police Commissioner B?Dayananda at the Deputy Commissioner's office, here, Simha said, a disputed madrasa' claimed the life of Raju.

According to Simha, Muslims in Kyathamaranahalli have illegally built a madrasa on a disputed land, which is located next to Raju's house. Raju had been fighting legally to stop it. To take revenge, Raju has been murdered.

The dispute exists since 2009 and four persons have been killed for the same issue, he added.

“After the Congress party came to power in Karnataka, the State is competing with Kashmir, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh in terms of violence. In the recent past, three pro-Hindu activists, including Raju, have been killed. Others are — Praveen Poojary in Moodabidri in Dakshina Kannada and Kuttappa in Kodagu,” Simha added.

“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is protecting the culprits. Law and order has completely collapsed in the State because of the chief minister. Siddaramaiah is the chief minister for Ahinda and not of the State. But, he must understand that he is responsible for the welfare of all the people,” he said.

The MP?alleged, a majority of the people creating violence in the State belong to Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).

“After the Congress came to power, the government has withdrawn cases that were booked against 1,500 SDPI members for causing violence,” he said.

Three demands

BJP?State unit General Secretary C T Ravi placed three demands before the district administration. He demanded the arrest of the assailants immediately, Rs 25 lakh compensation for Raju's family and a solution to the land issue.

“Even though the murder was brutal and created panic among Mysureans and the family members of Raju, no minister or Congress MLA is bothered to respond. None visited the family members. The land issue emerged in 2009 and four persons have been killed over it due to the negligence of the District Administration,” Ravi said.

Earlier, Simha and Ravi visited the family members of Raju and consoled them.

Bengaluru, Feb 24: Raising questions about the situation in Kashmir, senior Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister Sidddaramaiah on Monday asked the BJP heading the union government to prove 'normalcy' by hosting US President Donald Trump's event in the valley.

If @BJP4India feels Kashmir has returned to Normalcy, & If @BJP4India feels that there is no govt orchestrated violence. Now is the time to prove the same by hosting @realDonaldTrump's event at Kashmir, Siddaramaiah tweeted.

Amid concerns raised by opposition parties, the government has said efforts have been made to restore normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir which faced months of restrictions after its special status under Article 370 was scrapped in August last year.

Siddaramaiah, who is Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly, in another tweet hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the long wall built near the airport in Ahmedabad allegedly to block the view of a slum, ahead of Trump's visit.

It is time for @realDonaldTrump to get inspired from @narendramodi. Inspiration to build decorative walls to hide not so decorative life!! he tweeted. The opposition Congress in Gujarat had accused the BJP- ruled civic body in Ahmedabad of building the 500-meter long wall to block the view of a slum colony. Refuting the allegations, AMC officials had said the construction of the wall, around four feet in height, was approved much before Trump's Gujarat visit was finalised.

Trump, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump and a high-level delegation, arrived in Ahmedabad around noon on Monday for a little less than a 36-hour-long trip.

Bengaluru, Jul 16: People volunteering as civil police wardens with the city police department will not receive any remuneration, an official said on Wednesday.

“We wish to clarify the rumours floating on social media and confirm that the volunteers helping local police as civil police wardens in enforcement of anti-Covid measures will not be paid any remuneration,” said an official.

On Tuesday, Bengaluru city police commissioner Bhaskar Rao had urged interested people to volunteer for the department, indicating how strained the department has been amid Covid.

“Inviting physically fit and service minded residents of Bengaluru, both men and women, between the age of 18-45 to volunteer as civil police wardens,” said Rao.

The department is offering a choice of the police division, jurisdiction and the shifts one wants to choose to be a civil police warden.

Additional Commissioner of Police Hemant Nimbalkar said volunteers are a welcome support to the police in their field duty but should not be left alone.

“Volunteers are a support to the police in the field and shall not work standalone. They shall be attached with duty police as assistance. A jacket and a cap should be provided to them,” said Nimbalkar.

He reminded that the safety of the volunteers is the responsibility of the policemen.

Many city policemen have been infected with the virus and quarantined while more than six have succumbed.

“It is a tough time for all policemen irrespective of the rank. Four hundred and fifty active cases across the state and the loss of six lives speak volumes about their involvement in the war against Covid,” said Director General of Police Praveen Sood recently.

He expressed hope that the difficult times will pass, saying all the members of the police department are a family.
