Subodh Yadav takes charge as Deputy Commissioner of DK

Mangalore, October 23: Subodh Yadav, an IAS officer of 1999 batch formally took charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district on Saturday, October 23.

This is Mr Yadav's second stint in the district, where he worked as the Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat a few years ago.

Head Quarters Assistant to DC Prabhakar Sharma welcomed the new DC with a bouquet at around 1:40 pm in front of the DC office.

Yadav was posted as Deputy Commissioner of DK district on October 20, when V Ponnuraj was transferred and posted as DC of Shimoga. Ponnuraj had left the city on Friday.

After assuming his new office, Mr Yadav said he would take forward all the development works initiated by his predecessor. He appreciated many land mark projects including computerisation and paperless office system, which was initiated for the first in the state by Ponnuraj.

“Many projects and works are under progress in the district including concretisation of roads in different parts of the city. And many projects are still pending. I will study the entire situation at least for a week before taking any crucial decision”, he said.

Asked how he plans to tackle the major problems of the district including land mafia amidst political pressure, he said: “Let me go through all the problems thoroughly first. Give me some time to study the situation before planning anything. There is a solution for each and every problem”.

He said the city of Mangalore has undergone a rapid change compared to a few years ago when he was in the city as the CEO of ZP. “Many roads have been concretised and a large number of huge buildings and skyscrapers have been constructed across the city”, he said.

Mr Yadav, who knows English, Hindi and Kannada, hails from Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier he served as the DC of South Division of Bangalore Mahanagara palike, Kodagu, Chikkaballapur and Gadag. He also worked as the Private Secretary in Union Ministry of Law and Justice in the recent past. Before passing IAS, Yadav has done his BE in Mechanical Engineering and M. Tech in Industrial Engineering

Mangaluru, Apr 14: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today wished the people of Tulu Nad a Happy Bishu in Tulu language.

Yediyurappa took to Twitter on Tuesday and wrote in Tulu, 'Happy Vishu to everyone! A new year brings new hope and new energy. May the coming year bring good health and well-being in everyone’s lives.'

Bishu – the traditional New Year for the Hindus in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, which begins from Tuesday is believed to signal the arrival of good luck and fortune for the coming year.

Bengaluru, Mar 3: Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that the party's protest will continue until the Speaker will allow them to discuss BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yathnal's recent comments on freedom fighter HS Doreswamy.

"Our protest in the well of state assembly will continue until Speaker allows us to discuss about Basanagouda Patil Yatnal," Siddaramaiah said.

Congress MLAs staged a protest in the Karnataka Assembly and entered the well demanding BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yathnal's apology for his 'Pakistani agent' remark.

Earlier, Congress leaders on February 26 staged a protest on the same issue in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Vidhana Soudha.

Yathnal, on February 25, called Doreswamy a fake freedom fighter and a Pakistani agent while addressing the media. His comments triggered a controversy drawing sharp remarks from Congress and other parties.

Mangaluru, Jul 11: Under the fourth phase of Vande Bharat Mission, the government of India has announced as many as 42 repatriation flights from Saudi Arabia to various Indian destinations including four flights to Karnataka. 

On July 25 an Air India flight will fly from Dammam International Airport to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.

On July 26 another Air India flight will take off from Dammam and land in Bengaluru and then again it will continue its journey till Mangaluru International Airport. 

On July 27, Air India will operate a flight from Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport to Bengaluru. 

On July 28, Air India will operate another flight from Jeddah to Mangaluru. It will be the last flight from Saudi to Karnataka under the fourth phase of Vande Bharat Mission.
