Mangalore, January 2: Hardline Sangh Parivar leader Pravin Togadia on Sunday lashed out at Congress leaders including P Chidambaram, Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh for their “support to Islamic terrorism” and declared that the Hindu organizations will build a grand Ram Mandir at Ayodhya within two years.

Addressing the Hindu Samajotsava here at Nehru Maidan, in his characteristically aggressive speech, Mr Togadia singled out Chidambaram for criticism and asked if the Union Home Minister was contesting the next election from Lahore instead of Tamil Nadu. "Is Chidambaram the Home Minister of India or is he the Home Minister of Pakistan?", the fire-brand orator asked in his inimitable style.

Lashing out at Chidambaram for his recent criticism of “saffron terrorism”, the international general secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishat claimed that not even a single Hindu has been convicted of terrorist offences in the country while more than 50 Muslims have been sentenced of the offence.

He then turned his ire at Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, and said, if he is so worried about growing Hindu terrorism in the country why doesn't he migrate to his ancestral country Italy?

Mr Togadia also took exception to another Congress leader Digvijay Singh's statement on the killing of Hemanth Karkare and wanted to know if he was the brother of the Pakistanis who attacked Mumbai 26/11?

He also blasted “Shaithani Jihadi Musalman” in his rhetorical speech and warned that if the surge of Jihadis was not checked, it will lead to creation of more Pakistans in Assam, West Bengal and Kerala.

“In 1940s Jihadis resolved in Rawalpindi that they wanted a separate Pakistan. Today Gilani is saying Kashmir should be given independence. Today there may be just one party with the name Muslim League. But are one dozen political party league which is supporting Jihadis. While thousands of soldiers are being killed in Kashmir every day, the government is talking of giving jobs to the family of the slain terrorists,” Togadia said.

Amid roaring screams of Jai Sri Ram, Mr Togadia said, the Jihadis will be swept away in the waters of Ganga and Yamuna and said the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya will ensure that there will not be any more Mohammed Ali Jinnahs in the country.

“We demolished the mosque on December 6, 1992 because we wanted to guarantee that no more Babars are born in the country,” he claimed.

In his Hindu speech, punctuated repeatedly with roars of Vande Mataram and Jai Sri Ram, Mr Togadia spit venom at Muslims and claimed that the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya will herald a new beginning and will pave the way to construct Ram Mandirs at Lahore and Rawalpindi in the years to come.

“One day we will also fly the saffron flags in Lahore and Kandahar. We will take revenge for the oppression meted out on Hindus for centuries,” he thundered.

On the construction of Ram temple he said it would be built within two years after the final clearance was given.

“In 1989 we had collected 8 crores through bricks. We had deposited the money in a nationalized bank. Now the fund has grown to 24 crores. We have kept the pillars and other carvings ready. We are confident of completing the construction within two years,” he said and claimed that the Hindu community does not want Ram Mandir to be built as a result of some people's generosity or through compromise. “This is the fight to protect country,” he said.

He ended his speech with slogans of “Ramlalla ham aayenge, Mandir vahin banayenge” and "Bharat hindu rashtr hai, yahi hamara kam hai”.

The event which has created lot of anxiety among the Mangaloreans ended peacefully, with district administration making massive security arrangements.

Dr P Dayananda Pai, Chairman, Century Builders, Bangalore presided over. Vishwesha Theertha, Seer of Pejavara Mutt, Ramananda Swamy of Kolya, Gurudevananda Swamy of Odiyoor, Rajashekharanda Swamy of Gurupura, KS Nithyananda of Chikmagalur and Rani Chandakantha of VHP were present on the dais.

Bengaluru, Mar 4: Seeking to allay fear among the citizens in the wake of Coronavirus scare, Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Wednesday made an appeal to the people not to pay heed to rumours spreading on social media.

In a series of tweets, Mr Sriramulu assured people that the government has taken adequate measures to ensure that the disease does not spread further. "Don't lend your ears to rumours about the Coronavirus in the social media. Rely only on the authentic information," he tweeted.

The minister's tweet came as Bengaluru reported the first case, after a techie from the city with a travel history to Dubai and interaction with Hong Kong-based people there, was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad.

As panic gripped the city, Mr Sriramulu said the apartment where the software engineer was staying has been sanitised. Besides, his 25 colleagues have been identified. One of them has been admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure and his blood sample has been sent for lab test.

"So far 40,207 people have been screened at the International airport. 251 blood tests have been done, of which 238 were found negative, while the rest of the reports are yet to come," Mr Sriramulu tweeted.

The health department said three people have been admitted to the isolation ward at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD).

Meanwhile, a parent appealed to people not to panic about the Coronavirus in the techie's apartment, where his son too resides. "My son is from the same apartment. To update everyone, there is absolutely nothing wrong here. It was more of panic on social media that created this," he said in a message.

He said that the man who is in Telengana and testedpositive stayed in this building on February 21. "His roommate was taken to hospital and has tested negative," he said. It is been two weeks since the incident. The virus cansurvive only for 48 hours under optimal conditions, he noted. "Everyone in this building is safe. Please educate yourself. Refrain from spreading panic and misinformation." he added.

Bengaluru, Jan 29: The high court has granted bail to a 37-year-old Bangladeshi woman from the Christian community on the strength of Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019.

The court cited Section 2 of the amended Citizenship Act 1955, according to which minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who entered India on or before December 31, 2014 should not be treated as illegal immigrants, while granting her bail.

Allowing the petition filed by Archana Purnima Pramanik, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, who claims to be staying in India since 2003, justice John Michael Cunha on Monday directed her to furnish a bail bond for Rs 2 lakh to the satisfaction of the investigating officer and cooperate with the probe.

The judge observed the allegations made against her must be proved in a full-dressed trial. Archana was booked for obtaining documents such as PAN and Aadhaar cards and also fraudulently obtaining an Indian passport on March 28 last year. Based on a complaint filed by the assistant passport officer, Archana was arrested on November 7, 2019 and her bail petition was dismissed by a sessions court on December 4, 2019.

Born on March 23, 1983 at Tanore, Rajshahi district of Bangladesh, Archana came to India in 2003 to pursue a career in nursing. After obtaining a diploma in general nursing and midwifery at Ranchi in 2006, she worked in many reputed hospitals.

In 2010, she got married to Rajashekaran Krishnamurthy and the marriage was registered at Ranchi. After the wedding, she moved to Bengaluru and obtained PAN, Aadhaar and voter ID cards.

On April 1, 2019, Archana applied for a visa to Bangladesh for herself and her son. During her journey on May 20, 2019, they were detained at Kolkata airport and released later. However, the regional passport office issued a notice revoking Archana’s passport and she was arrested by RT Nagar police on November 7, 2019.
